I actually offered to get a bigger car for her now we have a kid on the way, but she likes her little 4x4 Panda I got her a few years back.
Charity shops in the Chichester area are a goldmine ;) but Surrey is another level I suspect. Our matress is £20k list, £18k on sale. Soft one side for me and medium for her. Like sleeping on a cloud.

It cost £2k from a guy who specialises in refurbs for the Virginia Water set, came out of the guest room from a McMansion and probably used three times,.

Is it a Spinks? As in Harrison Spinks we did 2 years at their factory. I got a 15k super king for £100 in the staff program as we were doing an extension for owner/md as well on his house but billed to company

I don’t get the new car seat thing . Look at them , what can go wrong ? They are hard plastic . You can inspect all the parts where the belts go and check the mechanism on the seats belts . Has anyone ever heard of a child car seat failing from it breaking ? How can they be fine at a year old with first child in them but no use a day later for a different child 🤷‍♂️

My wife was an absolute no on second hand car seats, even when older.

Our neighbours one a midwife one a consultant paediatrician from the nicu gave us their old upright booster seats Mrs like no! Don’t know if they’ve been crashed! I’m like do you think they’d give us knackered seats! Anyway gotta pick your battles lol 😂

Compared to practical people, influencers, analysts etc will have their uses - they will be tender and make a much better meal
Have you read all of the “Hitchiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” books? In one there’s a bit where the population of some planet evacuate on three spaceships. The ship with the analysts, marketers, estate agents, etc. get sent in a different direction to the two ships with the artisans, professionals, tradesmen etc.

Most politicians would be an easy meal; no backbone to deal with.

As for the the NHS and ALL state services, there are all failing. More free state childcare, look at what is now entering the school system. Over 25% not toilet trained or able to feed themselves properly. The more the state intervenes the worse the outcomes. No socialist state ever survives. When you have over 50% of “working people” on some form of government tax credit or handout you have a problem.
Financial collapse of the western system is edging closer. When it will happen is just a matter of time.
When you have a party in power that floats the Government borrowed less in December than forecast you still have a problem. They are still adding to the debt and interest bill. Until someone makes a radical change we are still on a slow boat of doom.
No state ever survives in the end …

One of my favourite books. I think the film ‘don’t look up’ parodies this

Mrs P is queen of second hand . When we got together I came home to hers one night and herself and kids sitting on floor because she sold the sofa . Few days later I was picking up a 2nd hand like new 3 piece . She still does it to this day . 90% of our stuff is 2nd hand . Fraction of the cost and still looks stunning
My wife wants a new sofa because the one we have (that she bought 10 years before we met) is 20 years old. I think it’s fine and would prefer to spend the money on ANYTHING else

Don't complain - suggest what's better

My thinking is if they have been in an accident and been stressed you may not be able to tell.

you too ? .... I bought ours 25 years ago and it is mega comfy still. Did fork out a lot more than it cost for materials to recover it in 2012 and spent quite some time dismantling it to recover the framework panels .. Vicki did all the cushion covers and it's still solid as a rock and looks good.
's an ash frame with all loose squabs/cushions and quite big - without the side cushions the chairs will accommodate two ppl and the settee will cope with five happily -- it's great for stretching out on .... plus i've never seen anything I've vaguely thought " that's look good ", to replace it :rolleyes::unsure:

Sofa shopping is a real eye opener isn't it? All the same mass produced crap in every store and the same salesmen trying their best to convice you it's worth £6k- interest free over 5 years. The the same sofa a year on sits on FB marketplace at 4k for months ("we paid £6000!") before dropping to 3k....2k....1.5k and still no takers., Worse than vehicles.

Best thing to come of her insisting we go sofa shopping was her realising the difference between price and value. That was in our early days living together. Now she's happier with secondhand stuff and gold coins.

I would agree with that ....
Vicki had her car written off by some pr*ck running up her arse on a DC in 2020 (she was doing 50 and he ploughed into her rear off side corner and pushed her off the road, in broad daylight) Clara was in her seat in the back in that corner
WP_20200219_20_38_41_Pro.jpg

even though I had it completely to bits and inspected it - it took some sort of shunt, saved any injury to Clara -- really wouldn't trust it again - bought her a new one the next day.

Sofas and mattresses are like car seats to me- I'd rather new so I know their history. Don't really want to buy a used sofa that someone's potentially died on or had any involvement with a swingers party!
