Also wouldn’t hurt to change the rest while you are at it. All of them will have been under pressure from the ice potentially disturbing their seal

did consider that too ... should've told him the measure their depth in the holes .. I'd change anything that wasn't at least a mil below surface and also check every other core plug visible ... must've been pretty cold to pop them out ... usually the biggest go first (sides of block usually)

yep, replace that too ... the edge is what keeps it put and if the edge is protruding, 's only a question of time .... needs to be below the surface at least a mil. ... check them all

thanks digger davie , could i not end up making more of an issue in changing something that may not need it ? was thinking of pressure testing the coolant side once the 2 new plugs are in ? thanks alan c

will check all vivible , but as per my last post , if it aint broke and all that

lol, it sure did , and thankfully it did , as no need for a head or block changeout

and if it's mega tight (which it should be) tap the one edge/side in, until it rotates in the hole and lever it out on the lip ... try not to put any bars in the hole and risk damaging the hole's face ... they're machined

If you've been running plain water in the system the core plugs are likely to be quite rusty on the inside and may be close to failure

planning a pressure test , the core plug that came out of the head had zero rust , thanks though , hadnt thought that the plugs were of material that rusted based ont he plug that came out .

they'll rot through over time ... only mild steel, usually anodised, have seen quite a few like it

I have a problem with my terex hd1000 early model engine starts and runs fine with no smoke , doesn't breath either but when move forward or put engine under load it dies and stalls. can anyone help could it be a fuel problem ?

Fuel filter?
Full of crap (or water) would restrict the flow.
