I've had costs on a Harford manual and Geith hydraulic.
Any thoughts or recommendations?

hitch on a switch is very nice .. but is it really worth the cost (and hassle) on a machine this small ?

The question is how much do you use it yourself vs how much does someone else use it. Personally on a small machine if it's mostly driven by someone else I'd stick a manual hitch on it.

I did a while ago but the manual had gone up by nearly 200 when I had a cost about 2 months ago so didn't ask on the hydraulic 1

Just don't a spring hitch. Anything is better than a spring hitch.
I honestly can't see the point of them when they semi quick hitch is quicker safer cheaper and doesn't wear as bad.
And every other form of quick hitch is superior

If you can justify the cost deffo hydraulic then. Harfords hyd hitch for 1.5 tonners is a real tidy well made hitch imho far superior to geith at that size.

I went hydraulic and wouldn’t go back, especially if it’ll be you driving it.

Harford will supply full kit with hitch (as will be the way most do it if required). When i added it onto cost of new machine in place of manual hitch it was 1k extra, i don't know how much of that went in dealers pocket for fitting it mind (but i did wangle 2 extra buckets into the deal late on without any added cost). That was 2016 mind and there were v few hyd hitches going on 1.5/1.9 tonners back then. In fact only harford would actually supply hitch and kit at the time as geith still only had design on cad and harford hadn't made many.is it a bare hitch or full kit Gaz ... a lot more beside just the hitch, money-wise

I know it's a luxury in a small machine and some will argue you don't need any form of quick hitch on a small machine but if your working in your own it's a ball ache getting off, on, off again then back on just to switch the bucket.

They're ok. I have them on 2 of my machines. They both seem to work loose though- I've also had problems with both of them where they jam so when you use the ratchet to release it unscrews the bolt rather than releasing the back wedge and then required taking the hitch off and apart to reset it all and tighten the grub screw to stop them dethreading again.
I'd just have a semi hitch tbh if I had to have a manual hitch again

You also have to look at the fact no matter what everyone is lazy and will try and use the inappropriate bucket for something quick rather than change attachment if it's a ball ache.
There must be a considerable saving in wear and tear on a small machine and it's buckets by using the correct tool especially if that's a ripper tooth instead of a ditching bucket.

That's the biggest thing right there. The most time wasting, fuel burning inefficient thing to do is to use the wrong bucket cos you can't be bothered to change it. You can turn a lot better work out easier as well if it's a pop to swap between buckets.
