@Stroppymonkey , I was in there last night we sat down about 7.30. Judging by your order, you may have been sat next to us as I remember a burger coming past?

I ordered a rib eye, and ended up with a rump . So, without even asking, he knocked it straight off the bill

Bloody hell what a small world. Yes you were next to us.. I remember the chef coming out to sort it out. Decent of them.
We skipped starter and dessert so we were in and out pretty quick.
Slept in the van down by the river. Good nights kip.

That's not a bad price tbh if it's good quality. Pubs aren't cheap any more but you don't mind paying if it's decent grub.

Wife had a 10oz sirloin and I had the 8oz burger . Full plates with triple cooked chops and salad . Bottled water and a pint and was £59.50. So not cheap, but certainly not out of the way. Most of the beef is Philip Warrens. Really good meal and 100% would go again. Wife reckons best chips she’s ever eaten.
If you are a vegan .. don’t go 🫣

I wanted the whole package starter, main and dessert! As its very rare we have a child free night got to make the most of these nights was quite foggy coming across the moors!

Bargain! Had a takeaway pizza express the other week and it was similar price.. 2 starters/2pizza/2puddings! won’t do dominoes anymore so it’s pay up or don’t bother!

Is dominos just the price ?
We haven't had it in years as none local but they opened a branch in the village so we decided to get it a couple of months ago. Mine was expensive, my wife's gluten free one was astronomical.

Agreed I'm sure it's just gone crazy unless on a deal. Prefer true Italian style myself. But nothings cheap. KFC with 3 kids is over 50 quid!

We rarely have any takeaway as my wife is gluten intolerant and I'm not a fan of curry.
To be honest since my wife became gluten free it has saved us a fortune. And moving to a village (albeit more like a town) with not much choice of delivery has helped.
When she takes the kids to her parents I get a massive Chinese to last me a couple of days but other than that takeaways and fast food are very limited.

I dont do domino's unless im feeling seriously lazy or hangover... only because they deliver.
Last time i got it i ordered in the app without even looking at the price.. nearly dropped when I did see it

I’ve never lived anywhere that food can be delivered to, which somewhat reduces enthusiasm for takeaway.
If I’m feeling lazy then a Waitrose Meal Deal for £15 provides a better meal than any takeway.

The VAT on hot food makes a difference. I think it was the Tory government that helped drive that extra nail into the coffin of some small businesses. f****ng VAT on food. Fucksake

The only time we really go out for a meal and don't feel like at least Dick Turpin wore a mask is when we go Sunday evening to a Chinese in Chichester. Winner of so many good curry awards, fantastic quality. Sunday evenings they have a pretty varied set menu for £17.50/head. You can choose one of each of starter, main, rice and naan!

They get you on the poppadums and beer but still- proper value for money. Even I can never finish it all (much less she!) so they bring out takeaway tubs and you have lefovers for a couple of meals on Monday and Tuesday- that's the real bargain. You take home a food worth as much as a regular takeaway if you were to order it Monday evening!!

Absolutely. She moans at me moaning if we ever eat out but feels shite paying more for stuff that's meh...I like to give her a break at times though

Give me home cooked any day.
Went to Cranstons on Saturday at Penrith.
Couple of monster dry aged ribeye and some steak and halloumi kebabs..

Ate like a king all weekend for a lot less than some pompous restaurant
