Robinsons steel buildings normally have quite a lot of prices for complete buildings in their special offers section.

As a general rule of thumb:
Buy in steel sections £680/ton
170/16 Zed purilns £5.50/m.
200/20 eaves beam £8.50/m
Plain box profile cladding £7.80/m
Composite panel box profile cladding £20/m

And remember if you plan to insure this building and the contents it will require CE marking which requires it to be fabricated by someone with an EN1090 factory production control certificate (FPC) with an execution class 2 (EC2).

When BS5750 came in decades ago, there was talk of having to have every bar of stock cert.ed, ser. numbered and a register of every inch cut off it

If you go for Execution class 3 or 4 then everything needs to be documented and traceable to every beam cut and every run of weld.

That is true but usually when you get through planning permission you then need a building warrant which can sometimes stipulate weather or not fabrication onsite is accepted or not.Just thought ... that's provided it's not fabricated on site ... sod all applies for on site fab.ing --- I'm reliably informed

That's a good price on the composite box profile, I used to deliver a lot of factory seconds for a couple of people, and they charged it out at £13/m, saying it was 1/2 price of new.

bloody hell that insulated composite has gone up since I last looked
.... plain cladding is bad enough .... don't take long to rack up enormous bills on running metre-age for profile .... as said floor and cladding's the dearest bits ... steel frame's a gift in comparison

The old man went through it all a couple of years ago, he almost packed up. All certed now and all.... but audited every year I think. 3 pieces of 20mm plate had to be cut to a certain shape and sent for testing last month..... seems they move the goal posts all the time.argh FFS just don't go there Boyo

I'd been working towards retiring Aiden, in view of all this imminent s**t, when I was forced to by me body playing up in 2010. I nearly managed it in 2008, just before the whole world collapsed and my buyers for my yard went tits up
'Twas a blow .. head down, arse up - carry on .... all worked out in the end, but took some sorting ...... but not as much as this s**t would've

Those prices aren’t far off what I’ve found - composite is £20.60/m, everything else is cheaper (quite a bit on some items, almost dead on elsewhere).
It’s permitted development so can be fabricated on site no worries, but CE marking would be good if it’s not a massive step up in price to simply pay for a bit of unnecessary paper!

.... and one BIG reason I am seriously interested in acquiring Pam's relative's 15 acres of mixed pasture and woodland ... less than 4 miles away ...... equipment shed required

Just to update this thread - I ended up buying the steel frame from Brad Rushton Buildings - I’m really glad I didn’t do it myself as there is a massive amount more to it than I gave consideration to!... I would have been miles out with my estimation of pricing (for one thing there are 5 portals in a 4 bay building, not 4 - what a numpty!!!).
The kit came with every last nut, bolt and washer and went together perfectly - several people (who know a lot more than me about the subject) have commented on how good a frame it is so maybe it’s worth bearing in mind if anyone else is looking to purchase? As a company they were great to deal with, loads of communication and all done as agreed. I’m more than happy to recommend them.

The concrete panels came from Jones Brothers Concrete in North Wales - superb quality and really easy to install. The panels are incredible value for money when you think what a wall would cost!

On Friday, Ceres Construction from Chester poured me a concrete floor. I rang them for a quote at the start of lockdown as I knew of a couple of their previous jobs (which were great) but didn’t know them, and I didn’t want to mess anybody I knew around quoting as I wasn’t sure if I could really afford a concrete floor at the moment.
Ceres quoted less than I’d budgeted (to the point where it was actually affordable!) - I bounced their price/spec off other friends who do this for a living and they all said it was a great price. On that basis I gave them the go-ahead, and I have to say that I’m delighted with what they delivered!
