Be better off with 9k of tools rather than an empty box then

Got a 40” snap on roll cab I’ve had for 15ish years plus a 53” with a worktop that I found cheap on eBay second hand.

I would rather have second hand Polstore off ebay and spend the difference on tools.

and far better made .... can't pick up the upper third of mine empty ... lower two thirds is a pallet truck job ...
reckon there's a good half tonne of tools in mine, if not more

If it helps I have a teng set that for 25 years has had knackered hinges that has to be very carefully taken out of truck

I've got a set of Bergen deep impact sockets I think I've had for 25 years odd. Bought at a tool stall at Keith show. The problem is the modern impact guns have huge torque figures and the 1/2" square on some are getting a bit worn out.

Seem to be seeing more folk using Milwaukee power tools in their shop who would have run snapon previous..

Know where you're coming from ... used to be 50% offsettable on new capital plant/equipment .... always had a big spend at month 10/11 if needed/hadn't spent enough by that point ... no point in giving yer hard earned profits to the blood suckers .... but spent it on actual usable gear, rather than cupboards to keep it in ....... or premises maintenance which was 100% deductable .... 's why I had an 8' pallisade fence right round my acre site ... had a great year that year ....... and sold the fence when I cleared the site - made sure it was excluded from the sale contract
Buyers had a shock when they found it gone and had to hoard the whole site " s in the contract guys"

Snap on power tools are frankly rubbish, and their tools are nice but very, very overpriced.

The reason snap on and newly Mac tools sell in volume is the "finance"..... Beyond that they tend to be no better than anything else despite the cost and the reps are often pretty flexible on warranty when it suits them to be....

Horses for courses though, if spanner work is ur day in day out job then snap on and mac are an investment over a lifetime and the warranty helps justify the extra cost over the arguable better quality (and deffo the finance). Mac are seen as an inferior brand to snap on here (a lot of their tools are actually better imo and cheaper) yet are just as big a deal over in the states but i bet they'll really struggle when they get rebranded as Stanley over here.

Getting worse on price as well, if you thought a set of snap on spanners was dear 4 or 5 year back you wouldn't believe how much they are now.

Boggles the mind why people pay the prices. I just assume it’s the same mindset as Defenders, and I’ve never understood that either…

I just searched eBay for the cheapest 19mm new snap-on spanner... £46!! Why??? There's only so much 'close tolerance' that a spanner can have before lack of tolerance or surface patina on the bolt is an issue, so that explanation doesn't hold water either.

I've got a 13mm SnapOn ratchet spanner somewhere.... it really isn't all that.
