some time ago and can't recall which thread, @Grahams was extolling the virtues (or was it lack of ) of HE services home baked tilty .... knew I had a pic somewhere and just tripped over it .. so for everyone's delectation ........ a beast of a thing ....... (which could be quite a low build - if it wasn't for their 'masterhitch' stuck under it )

It wasn't the home brew tilt rotators, it was the Master Hitches. Can't think of anything about them I like. 100mm pins on a 14t machine just adds so much weight in the wrong place. The hitches themselves often come slightly bent on hire machines as they are not cast, just welded plate. Unless the bucket is on flat gound they can be very fiddly to pick up or let go. Can't let go of the first pin flat on the ground, so heavy attachments often swing round at high speed. All in all it is no wonder I have only seen them on HE machines.

With the right run of work I think wouldn't be too bothered, though they always seem a bit coy about talking actual price

The right run of work in my view isn't what it's on now, it would be those horrible jobs on steep side slopes working on the side of small roads to create flat spaces to park cars

I must confess I want one and have work to suit. I've actually got my name down on one when it comes up for sale hopefully.

But unfortunately your not going to become a millionaire with a spider or any other item of plant in the UK for the foreseeable future..... Too many money men playing to earn pennies.....

I rather fear that you are absolutely correct.

Back in the day we had the Hydrema front loader/backactor loader in our care for southern customer's to see and I had the full use of it for a couple of months, absolutely brilliant machine but too expensive apparently.
Ogled Engcon tilts at the SED at Rockingham and thought "this is the future"

In reality the money is made from how many machines and men you can get onto site not efficiency

On restricted awkward sites there really ought to be a market for a Menzi and a narrow wagon and drag set up , nice dream for a Sunday

Almost affordable now. A91 is several generations back. You could probably get one for £150,000 if you were lucky.
New are difficult to price as they are custom built for you on order and you can have almost any option you can dream up. I've heard rumours of £500,000 top spec, but not sure if that is just talk.

£150,000 for a used machine that is capable of doing jobs that a shiny new machine at the same money would not even get close to sounds a good buy to me.

I can well imagine that a full spec bear clawed, winch equipped, extra hydraulic pump one that could drive ground anchors beside an overhead live rail line would be proper pricy

The bugger is that the jobs that specialist kit works on are also the ones that are almost impossible to price realistically and the day rate would frighten the customer off

I have found very few clients are willing to pay a good hourly rate, but a lot are willing to pay what works out similar, if not a bit more for the job to be done. You are gambling on your skill and judgement of what can be achieved.
