Exactly ... needs the air so not plastic just terram. But the dpm won’t help with allowing air down to the bacteria in the stones?!

The pipe we use has wider slots than the still saw makes and depends how much you use I suppose but time is money.Make your own slotted pipe it's cheeper and dpm plastic on top only
All very well if you're next to the quarry! Down here on the coast I've only even known shingle to be used. Much cheaper.Oh and clean 40mm limestone only!!
Ah yeah I forget that not everyone has limestone surrounding them! All very well if you're next to the quarry! Down here on the coast I've only even known shingle to be used. Much cheaper.
Yeah granite down hereAh yeah I forget that not everyone has limestone surrounding them!

The proper stuff i bought for my house soakaway was a heavier wall thickness than standard soil pipe, builder did say to use standard soil pipe and use stihl saw to cut tractor tyre tread esque chevron slots in it, in the end needed to order pipe and payed the extra for proper stuff as time was at a premium.Make your own slotted pipe it's cheeper and dpm plastic on top only
My answer would be why would you ?The proper stuff i bought for my house soakaway was a heavier wall thickness than standard soil pipe, builder did say to use standard soil pipe and use stihl saw to cut tractor tyre tread esque chevron slots in it, in the end needed to order pipe and payed the extra for proper stuff as time was at a premium.
Out of interest does anyone know why you can't use twin wall drainage pipe with smooth internal diameter for a foul soakaway.
The twin wall for me is more forgiving if the backfilling of a soakaway was done in stoney ground and distribution system was not properly protected during install/backfill. The soakaway distribution is used to discharge what is treated liquor back into the ground formation via the soak way at a controlled rate so apart from pipe material differences they serve the same function. My answer would be why would you ?
Backfill material should be clean stone under around and over the soakaway pipes thoughThe twin wall for me is more forgiving if the backfilling of a soakaway was done in stoney ground and distribution system was not properly protected during install/backfill. Access to my soakaways to backfill/install was a pain.Land dug through was sandy with high stone content with immediate backfill material to distribution system having to be screened, if someone else had done it would they have screened it i don't know. Having had to repair land drains that were backfilled with minimum care in similar strata I am acutely aware of hazards of stones and settlement on drainage systems have and how single skin pipes are less resilient in certain applications.
Just did a quick Google slotted Vs plain 110mm 6m pipe slotted is double priceThe proper stuff i bought for my house soakaway was a heavier wall thickness than standard soil pipe, builder did say to use standard soil pipe and use stihl saw to cut tractor tyre tread esque chevron slots in it, in the end needed to order pipe and payed the extra for proper stuff as time was at a premium.

I once done a few hundred meters of 9" perforated twin wall for the LA, only normal depth, from a flooding hot spot on one road across some fields to a ditch on an other road.Out of interest does anyone know why you can't use twin wall drainage pipe with smooth internal diameter for a foul soakaway.
Clean stone under pipe, pea gravel surrounding it, screened material in between the herring bone and on top of pea gravel, not worth hassle of not doing right.Backfill material should be clean stone under around and over the soakaway pipes though
I was making the point that if you are backfilling soakaway properly with clean aggregate it shouldn't matter about the ground conditions you're putting it in be it stoney ground or not.The twin wall for me is more forgiving if the backfilling of a soakaway was done in stoney ground and distribution system was not properly protected during install/backfill.
I've slotted hundreds of metres over the years and one thing i can say is I'd want more than £15 an hour for doing it. Your right though it is a fair amount dearer for what it is but you're passing the cost on to the customer so....Just did a quick Google slotted Vs plain 110mm 6m pipe slotted is double price
So say heron bone is 30 linear m plain pipe is 150 quid where slotted is 365
If it took a labourer on 15 an hour to do them all in an hour that's a 150 saving on the cost of a job
Price job you would price in proper pipe then on job make your ownI've slotted hundreds of metres over the years and one thing i can say is I'd want more than £15 an hour for doing it. Your right though it is a fair amount dearer for what it is but you're passing the cost on to the customer so....
Solid slotted pipe only for soakaway! waveycoil for such applications is bad practice im afraid. Oh and clean 40mm limestone only!!
I’ve been asked to look at some drains at the cricket club , the river is the same level as the playing field so the existing land drains just fill up the minute it rains. Any ideas on what we could do ? Doesn’t help it’s on the bottom of the valleythere’s f**k all going for the job really
