Selling Topsoil

I am looking at a 7.5ton tipper and thinking about screening and selling topsoil.
For those of you selling soil how do you measure/weight what you are selling?

Most sell in bags round my way and deliver on hiab. So volume presumably not weight. You can buy loose with recycled but would think domestic punters prefer/expect bag nowadays

Several of the compost places round here have weigh loggers on the loaders

Although probably cheaper to sell by volume and get a calibrated bucket

Got to be more profit in bulk bags, but undoubtedly more hassle with dropping single bags to random tight housing estates and the customer expecting it to be dropped around the back garden etc!

Could go super specialist, there is a fencing supply company round here that tows an Avant around behind the lorry to drop materials off in awkward places, could be quite a niche market dropping aggregates round the back of properties.

And a standard 7.5t tipper with hiab will barely carry 2t
A 7.2t iveco daily will carry alot more
Or an Isuzu will carry a bit more

We just do it loose, bags are hassle and they only ever want 1 or 2 ton so it's not worth sending the lorry out.

You can get good topsoil round here FOC just now, just pay for transport, as long as a 8 wheeler can tip in your site

That’s the one! McVeigh have a Moffat, which to be fair can get most places you’d be dropping off fencing stuff-most bundles are minimum 8ft wide

This is happening around my way too - I reckon there must have been a push to clamp down on this nationwide for some reason (easy policing maybe?).

When have you ever seen a a grab lorry sheet a load??
If the load is well below the sides of the body (as it would have to be for legal payload on a 3.5t tipper), then how the hell can it be an insecure load?

New policy is the weight of an object alone cannot secure it in a vehicle.
