would have thought a call to gas safe to check and they would send someone to sort it else what's the point in having them ?

Gas safe won’t be interested. I reported a roofer who’d remove and refitted a vertical flue wrongly through my customers flat roof and they weren’t interested. If I’d done it wrong they would be all over me 🙄

They might be as the original fitter was ‘one of them’ at the time - as Fred says, what’s the point of Gas Safe otherwise?

Gas safe is our equivalent of cscs. Supposedly making the job better and safer, but doesn’t actually manage to weed out the idiots who ruin it for the rest!
Always gonna get that though. The worst thing with gas safe is the man with nothing (provided he doesn't kill anyone obvs) can do gas work with little or no comeback if its not right yet the gas safe registered man does something wrong they'd have your pants down.

Another action packed few days doing stuff at and from home :giggle:
"Dad, I went to turn my car around (Toyota Yaris) ready for work tomorrow, down the end of the road and it just wheel spinning, now it's stuck"
Laura is a 'key worker' teaching assistant at the local primary school and does one day a week doing real teaching 🥸

"Don't worry we'll come and give it a tug with the truck!"😇
Talk about slick on the untreated polished roads.
Her road is about a 1:20......she'd only then gone round the corner onto the 1:6 section where the kids were on their sledges and got stuck 😲
Soon sorted that out - you can just see it tucked in behind me truck.......

.......than yesterday evening, my son-in-law, Rod - the grab lorry driver, phones up......
"I've broken down on the A120 in that same lay-by again, can you just come and tow me home"
"What's up this time?"
"Think the auxiliary belt has gone, steering is stiff and charge light is on"
About 20miles from here on a busy dual carriageway, so borrowed the neighbours towing eye - Rod has lost his 🙄
Amber beacons all lit up and towed him home at about 50mph with no drama - he kept it tight 😝
He then tells me that he gonna get rid of it because things keep going wrong.......

It's a very nice Titanium X TDCi with all the toys and only 173k on the clock.
Looks like we have another project coming my way.........:ROFLMAO:

Why not check there's no bits of belt going a anywhere untoward and drive it home

Yep that'll be our plan (y)
It will need a new belt, new windscreen, pair of new tyres and a good valet inside and out.
We have already done loads of work on it over the past year or so....
New MOT should sort it ;)

Best day in the workshop for a few days, staring by lighting the log burner giving it a nice boost 🥵
Sorting out the dumper broken scissor pivot pin and splitting logs.....
IMG_3863.jpeg

Pin has split at the point with the 10mm bolt retained it....

IMG_0016.jpeg

So the R-Tech was fired up and got great penetration with 0.8mm wire....
IMG_3866.jpeg

One welded and fettled pin later.....

Time will tell - she goes out on site next week 🤠

IMG_3921.jpeg

Ice still hanging around - Navara going out every day to help tow the twats that get their cars stuck whilst on essential travel 🤪
IMG_3922.jpeg

Just opposite here hundreds of tons of snow being dumped on the roads. This is the B1352 and can get quite busy.
Fun and games will start later this morning.......

Primrose Lane just a mile up the road and the main route to/from Wrabness. Loads of locals got stuck there last night 😬

aye a blanket of 'em is 'sposed to be good Dyl, but TBH I doubt it'd do a lot out there these last few days .... reckon they'd just pop out ... might drop some of Clara's in their breather hole later and give it a try (y)
it's frozen to 20mm thick over night ..... cleared it just before dark last night and just a small pool clear where the pump is aerating it this morning .... don't want that to freeze over.
'Sposed to be 10-12C tomorrow :giggle:

How'd you manage to break that?
I'd have said it was the hardest pin on the dumper to break, being captive sleeved over its length with only two 125mm end pivots. I've always thought it was seriously over engineered at this point.

"It wasn't me honest I was no where near it" 🤪
Actually it was like it when I bought it, noticed that the plastic bushes were slightly puckered up.
Then in use the two halves would start to slide out
Then when I pulled it all apart found that the previous messer had even ground a chamfer to walk it back in!!
So for a few years now I've been running with a cable ties and wire bush fix to stop 'em dropping out 🤠
Chuffed to bits being able to weld it back together.
Had thought that I may have to buy some 30mm bright bar and make a new one.....

Yep that absolutely right Gra - grabbed it from my uncles when he ran the village butchers shop 😉
It’s been kicking around here for about 30+ years. Even ran it over with the Ford D Series 🤣
