I'd just take it down to a drain on the ground and not put it back into the house I'd also add a turndish I know I'd rather have a puddle in the house rather than no heating
Yep that's a good idea and exactly what I did to my new oil boiler recently - had a gully nearbyI'd just take it down to a drain on the ground and not put it back into the house I'd also add a turndish I know I'd rather have a puddle in the house rather than no heating
That’d be an option IF it’s nice plastic. All boxed in the corner of the bathroom and got a sneaky suspicion that it’s asbestosMaybe put a collar on the soilpipe inside and drop it into that.
That’s a horror story not to be repeatedIf only you knew someone who knew about groundworks
I'd add one of those heated traces too if it's going to be running any distance outside.
Kerry's grandpearents went on holiday this time of year about 5 years ago to come back to a flooded house where the condensate had froze knocked the boiler off and a water pipe froze and burst.
I've always been a little weary of condensate pipes since
Thanks for your advice - really appreciate it and will look into the points you raiseWhere to start...
That flue doesn’t look right to me, looks like standard efficiency one not condensing version?
Gas pipework doesn’t look like it’s sleeved through wall.
Condensate should have been enlarged before passing through wall.
What programmer is it wired to as that mechanical one doesn’t comply with “boiler plus”
Can you do a soak away temporarily?
Once again thanks Matt for the great advice - keep it coming buddyYou Should have a gas safe building regulations certificate (assuming it wasn’t a cowboy who fitted it) that in theory is needed when selling the house. If you ring gas safe they will tell you if it was registered. I actually fitted one of those locally a couple of years ago as someone needed a cheap working boiler to sell their house (usually only fit Worcester Bosch). Iirc they have 5yr warranty if serviced annually.
I’m pretty sure that flue is for a standard efficiency boiler (no longer allowed to be fitted), and has a metal internal flue section. Using this on a condensing boiler will mean the acidic condensate will rot the internal metal section out, then the external one! It would be worth checking as the consequences could be lethal!
I think this is the correct one...
Ditto that Gra
happy to vouch for that too@Routy56 i’ve just emailed a picture to Vokera technical to see what they say, I could be completely wrong but they will soon say wether it is suitable or not. Being honest I only fitted that one as it was a cheap deal from my supplier and the customer wasn’t bothered what was installed, I still prefer WB in every way
Happy to give my straightforward advice on anything I can help with, as I’ve also receieved from the forum![]()
even worse if he fitted the wrong flue and cert.ed it thenit could have been he was registered at the time of install but has since lapsed ?
