the P38 unless dead locked has all sorts of tish going on even when parked and draws a lot of juice .... on a full battery, you are lucky to have enough power to crank it after 10-14 days stood.
were famous for being a problem at airport parking
if you didn't have the security info. to reset them, even once you'd gotten into them they were still dead in the water.
Always have a plan B :ROFLMAO:

I just took ours on a 6 mile round trip to the butchers. Hopefully put more into it than I took out. I watched a video on YouTube where that Harry's farm guy went up to clarksons and they chatted about their range rovers. I think their model is the l322? Anyway Clarkson was saying when filming they had some newer models they opened and shut the doors multiple times in a day, ecu fired up each time and flattened the battery.
My disco 4 does that ,it's a twat

Hot tub now repaired and back in use 😎
There were two faults that needed addressing:
IMG_0931.jpeg

Heater was open circuit - only converted/replaced it 5 years ago 😳
IMG_0935.jpeg
Original was a 2kW 5.5" job and all replacements are now the upgraded 2kW 10" job. Only £120 on Amazon ;)
IMG_0936.jpeg

2hp pump was leaking so wrestled that out...
IMG_0955.jpeg

New ceramic pump seals were only £16 from eBay :giggle:
IMG_1124.jpeg

And there is is slipped in under the Spanish Theme Pergola using my Hyster FLT yesterday. And now heating up with our surplus solar PV power 😎

Pergola Post Repair during the week
You will have noticed that my previous photo showed the post beside the hot tub had a shiny new galvanised post support installed....
IMG_0981.jpeg

So Terry, my 90 year old neighbour opposite, came over and supervised :)
IMG_0983.jpeg

Old post had rotted out at ground level, like wot they all do! So cut it to size for roughly the new support height.
Then screwed a 300mm sleeper screw in and Mr. Crowbar helped me get it out...
IMG_0984.jpeg

Rotten action came in one piece. Then Mr. Henry helped me hoover the hole nice and clean for concrete...
IMG_0988.jpeg

Pulled a few blocks about and inserted a few halves. It's bolted down with about 300mm of threaded rod.
Mr. Bodgit and Scarper said I'd a good job

Busy weekend - who remembers "Radio Mi Amigo" or "Radio Caroline"
IMG_1050.jpeg

On Friday morning cycled into Harwich with my mate. Took a photo beside the RNLI Station and LV18 the home for "Radio Mi Amigo" and also a floating museum. Well worth a visit if you are down this way ;)
IMG_1062.jpeg

Friday evening 22 members of Harwich Runners joined about 300 others for the 5 mile Championship Challenge Race. It was mixed road and trail running, very hot with many hills 🥵
IMG_1080.jpeg

So glad to have got it finished...
IMG_1083.jpeg

The big bonus was that it was at the local football club - Brantham Athletic FC. While my mate Kev got us burger and chips from the kitchen I got the beers in. Nicola is such a superb runner for our club and loads of fun

was the post you extracted set in concrete or just compacted ground / fill around it ... got 4 set in concrete I need to extract (and some 300mm coach screws) .. not been looking forward to trying to extract them ......100 x 100 x 4/5/6 mm SHS going back in there ... should see me out then .. what's in there has done 15 years and a lot of their 'compatriots' are still solid ... but the wind's not been kind to these

Yep these too have been in about 15 years or so Gra and they were nicely set in concrete 😉
But do you know what-they came out sweet as. Plan B was to fire up the Nueson and give it a tug. But trust me with a bit of rot they will come out easy peasy. This is the 3rd front one that I’ve done like this. Got one more to do, which can wait until the school holidays and I’ll supervise our Jack doing it 😊

Another busy week. Harvest started on the WHEAT in the field opposite our house...
IMG_1147.jpeg

Charlie, the son of the farmer is operating it. He is now taking over the running go the farm
IMG_1149.jpeg

Straw chopper on for the wheat. Although Charlie deals a lot in straw. Usually barley straw, both big and small bales.
He invested in this Case Combine about 5 years ago replacing the old John Deere machine. It has less breakdowns.
Their farm although local to here was one of the many many farms that I used to collect grain form with the grain lorry...

IMG_2827.jpeg

Loved my time driving the grain lorries. It was going to farms where I often had a good old chat with the farmers about all stuff to do with farming :giggle:

Got out and about on the bike many times during the past week
There's a gravel track that starts very near us and pops out nearly in the local town of Dovercourt...
IMG_1132.jpeg

The track goes down between the Carless Oil refinery and the Golf Course.
Stopped to grab a quick photo for Gra @V8Druid
Loads of work going on. The new owners are now laying off staff and reducing their assets 😳
IMG_1133.jpeg

Then I often pick up this track on the bike. It's on the route of an old railway track and known locally as "The Hangings". Part of national Cycle Network No. 51. Nice and shady in all the heatwaves that we are having
IMG_1134.jpeg

Then as I came round to the Promenade from Harwich to Dovercourt Bay, it was closed off towards the Stones Pier Headland. Guys in the long reach were doing maintenance of the foreshore and beach.

IMG_1161.jpeg

Had a chat with them. They are from a big company in Doncaster that do coastal defence work. I'll get a name later. But they didn't like the hired in 8 tonne Hitachi Zaxxis. Not very smooth etc. To be replaced next week with a 22 tonne long reach

Why isn’t he baling the straw? He obviously has his reasons - straw is big money at the moment up here!
