the Kia has a PPF and I make sure it gets a lacing regularly to get it hot and drive it a lot harder than I have with any previous motor -
no 'chugging about' in too high a gear -
take it to 3k in every cog, getting up to running speeds:rolleyes:

Yes, I'm aware of potential DPF issues and avoid short journeys. Had a good run into Colchester and back on Wednesday
Any idea how we see when the DPF is regenerating? I wouldn't want to stop it mid cycle.
The only way I'm aware is when the exhaust smells hot and it makes that ticking noise 😝
how far are you from Colchester Dave?

My Hilux puts a message on the dash with a counting down graph when it’s doing a Regen. Its first vehicle I’ve had that does this.
Now that's a great idea (y)
Now got me wondering if a similar indicator system can be repo fitted to my Navara

Colchester is our home town (now a City) and always said to be England's oldest recorded town.
We are about 16 miles away from the Eastern outskirts. And about 20 miles from the Western outskirts and Stanway where my brother and sister still live.
So coming back along the A12 and A120 truck roads it gets a 'good run' ;)

We walked around the whole of the old Roman Wall around the town with the replies from Austria

Then went for lunch - pub grub washed down with a pint :)

Some vehicles turn on accessories like heated windows and mirrors to put more load on the engine during regen, I`ve heard of people putting a little warning light connected to them so they know if its on, and they`ve not turned them on its doing a regen.
No idea on a Navara, but maybe worth a bit of investagation.

My Dmax had a particulate mass level on the screen you could watch. When driving you could also tell as the throttle response seemed to get sharper.

If the Navara does it it's not obvious. I've put 6k miles on mine since I've had it and not noticed it doing a regen. Plenty of longer1-2 hr trips towing diggers too. I wonder what's better for a dpf a longer journey not towing or a half an hour shift towing where it's gets hotter quicker.

I'd think driving under your conditions would load up the engine enough to run the DPF hot enough, often enough to keep it's self clean.
My mazda got above 100k km (60k miles) before it flagged its first DPF fault. I ran "the procedure" and it was fine, but since then, when on the open road, I drop two cogs for 10min every couple of months - maybe it helps.

Yep exactly that (y)
I'll pay more attention until I've added a warning light to the mirror heater circuit etc :geek:

So Ryan moves in the static over the Easter weekend and have been working on the services and snagging list :giggle:
Big problem with the shower tray. Evidence of previous leaking underneath, but bone dry now, so best time to sort it.
IMG_9725.jpeg

Original shower tray has a poorly fitted 'skin' over the old one.
IMG_9727.jpeg

And here's the main leak. Caused by 2 things IMHO. Unsupported into a square hole in the floor. Secondly a wrong drain hole fitted with no sealing washers other than loads of silicone
IMG_9773.jpeg

So simply ordered an identical replacement 'skin' from The Caravan Warehouse at a place called Port Talbot ;)
IMG_9777.jpeg

Turned on the water and found a few leaks. Drip from Morco LPG water heater...
IMG_9781.jpeg

Then pissing out from behind the bog, where some clown had cross threaded the botton inlet
IMG_9782.jpeg

And final one to test my patience was the crappy push fit coupling feeding the water heater, located behind the 'fridge

IMG_9783.jpeg

Then James rocked up with his GasSafe test stuff to repair, service and test on the LPG appliances
IMG_9786.jpeg

It's alive and no longer leaking
IMG_9792.jpeg

So I then cut the silicone and pulled the shower doors out...
IMG_9793.jpeg

To reveal this mess 😳 Going to spend some time making good with marine ply etc.
Only then can I get that new shower tray fitted.
Seriously considering placing on the previous one and making it double skinned. With proper support around the drain hole.
Anyone done one of these? What would you do?

And on a positive note, Ryan rocked up yesterday and gave me a hand with basic groundworks.
This is not the final resting place in our garden, but helps get it clean and tidy...

Pleased with this temporary job. Repurposed slabs bedding on some soft. Can be moved whenever we are ready ;)
We even let him have a plastic Keter shed for his stuff

I guess they plumb static caravans in mainly pushfit for movement purposes. My parents have one and the shower tray flexes when I stand in it! If you can fit one in I’d just use a normal shower tray as they’re much more sturdy.

I don't know whether it's the best idea but I did see someone bedding the tray on expanding foam. So as the completely fill the void and avoid movement.
I loved in one for a few years with just a little log burner for heat. If I did it again I would definitely be getting one of those Chinese diesel heaters.

Yes Matt, it's all push fit connections and plastic pipes apart from the cu to/from the water heater. I'm happy with JG fittings, pipes and supports which IMHO the best quality.
Yes the original shower tray is plastic on square of blue foam pad. Ideally a new rigid tray would be great great. But it may mean a complete refit of the walls and enclosure etc. Just want a quick fix, and have already forked out £199.99 on the new plastic shower tray

Using expanding foam is a great idea which I will go with to fill up the gaps between old and new. Just feel it's got to be properly supported or it may crack again :geek:
Now got images of you loving on a sheepskin rug in from of the log burner :ROFLMAO:

The gas fire as a heater works well, by may consider a diesel powered heater in the future, assuming we can still get the fuel for it after "Epic Fury" has run it's course

Haha farm workers caravan was definitely not as romantic as that.

My colleague had the posh 4 season caravan with the gas heater and it cost him an absolute Fortune in gas.
I had the single season one with single skin windows but at least the log burner was filled with logs from the farm.

Can you not put a proper tray in ? Not that thin piece of excrement ?now that you are rebuilding?

Yep I would if time wasn't main issue. Ryan moves in at the weekend.
So don't want to be ripping out all the plastic walls which are currently lipped over the old tray. So a 'quick fix' is bond a 'skin' over the old one. That'l be after I've replaced the rotten wood 😳
Mind you it really is testing my basic skills and patience. Then there's the cleaning up and rejigging the bi-fold shower doors and frame.
Have been putting off all this until last. Wished some of you lot lived nearer 😉
