My dog has literally just been sick on the floor as I'm reading through this thread

mate of mine, who had his yard not far from my old w/shop, had a lurcher called Bruce ... known through out the town/area .. had his rounds ... would always stroll into my place dead on 10.35 and 13.05 .. break and lunch time ... had a real penchant for welsh cakes (and anything else edible) ... 
... reckon he burnt off as many calories as he consumed, getting around his various 'ports of call'

Must be a lurcher thing. I remember when I did my chainsaw course at the local ag college. Mine would walk calmly up along side you and nick your sarni out of your hand and run off scoffing it.
My old man had lurchers too and Remember coming home from pub as a family on boxing day with a load of family friends and his lurcher had got into the posh room and eaten the buffet - story was it was laid licking the cream out of a brandy snap when mum opened the front door

me mate who died in the glider accident a while back used to have one called Ben who was damned near human ...
put Ben in the back of his Hilux, with his tools, saws, etc., and say guard it ......
I'd defy anyone, including me, who Ben knew really well, to take ANYTHING out of Mart's truck without either losing a hand, or shooting Ben first ...
he was SERIOUSLY intimidating in 'guard mode' .......
and as soft as soap out of the truck
..one mega intelligent dawg .. got some pix (paper, as usual) of him riding on the pillion seat of my XT600, with his front paws on my shoulders
