No wonder your concrete is soo much cheaper than we have here.
£6 -£8 gets you nothing
£8 - £10 recycled skip waste of varying quality.
£14 - £20 Quarried stone of various grades for sub base
£20 - £25 quarried clean stone 10mm, 20mm single size
£25 Building sand
£85 - £95 concrete on full loads
Aye no wonder our concrete is cheaper. Funny that sand is a similar price though, around £25/ton.

I assume concrete products must be alot dearer ie pipe, kerbs etc?

I guess I’m lucky, there’s 3 limestone quarries within about 2 miles of me. My mate is a lorry driver and has some in bays in his yard so can help myself for small bits here and there with the transit.

got stung 56 quid odd for a sheet of WBP faced 18mm ply this week ..... usually use WBP sheathing, GOS for trailer bottoms, but was told the GOS sheathing is no longer WBP and only 10 quid a sheet cheaper :oops: ........ that has over trebled in price in 4 years (last time I bought a sheet for the bottom of my 8 x 4 trailer was 14 quid ) and no longer waterproof ..... FFS :mad:

Out of interest who do you use Doobin? I'm paying a little more than that - not much mind but always keen to reduce costs when other elements are going through the roof!

Wait until we are all running on White fuel!!
Yeah that'll have an impact on agg prices for sure. As it stands now if you take haulage and agg tax off they are quarrying stone for a couple of quid a ton. £12.50 for type 1 here and £17.50 for clean stone (gravel/40mm etc) delivered.

That came up in conversation with one of my haulier mates last week. How can he compete with his Lorry/tax/inspections/op license/tacho/white diesel/cpc/weight limits.....vs young lad with fasttrac and big dump trailer.

how indeed .... string 'em up if caught doing anything other than what a traccy's 'sposed to do and within their exemption working radius ..... bloke here sold his stock lorry, bought a gert stock trailer for behind his JD and now hauls his stock to market/slaughter anywhere up to 40+ miles away on red, no Op. license, no tax, no goods license, etc., etc. .... boils my p**s .... the hoops i had to jump through running my own trucks just to handle my own stuff

That’s always been illegal, just not policed.
