Then hazily remembered someone here saying that the likes of Toolstation and Screwfix sell very much lower end models from the pukka brands and there’s an amount of false economy. Too good to be true or still deserving of the front page?

Only single speed my DEWALT impacts are 3 speed for the proper ones

Same catalogue. I’m pretty sure I handled this in a shop the other day. The forward/reverse switches didn’t agree with me. And more expensive. Not necessary for me, even if it is better. I’ll give it an easy life.

I can’t help but wonder whether Milwaukee isn’t on the front page on a nice deal because it’s the cool brand atm. And given a couple of years, Dewalt will be cool again. They’re all pukka brands.

Milwaukee knocks the spots off any other brand for 12 and 18v tools. I wasn't keen on moving away from Makita initially but I've never looked back.

The problem is, without a shop to handle things, I wouldn’t know that the M12 one only suits me if I install a second thumb joint. I’m old fashioned. I like a shop. I want to slam something on the counter and shout at a human if something’s wrong. I hate the post.

I'd be surprised if there's a physical shop anywhere that stocks more than a token gesture soon...a certain well known German brand lost 30 dealers last year...margin is rock bottom.
Utterly shite industry to be in.
I'm lucky as Moore's aka bigred have a huge display but it's shrinking I notice....their warehouse is encroaching rapidly...

This I cannot think of one place over here with the variety of stuff some of their "hardware stores" have ...be ruddy handy stay open late...rather than spending our time waiting for eBay deliveries ...

HIS Inverness has quite a selection of Makita, DeWalt, maswauky metabo etc on display but as ever you see some tool online but can never find the exact model in any shop.
We haven't bought hilti for over 6 years now and not missing it.

Got both 12v and 18v Milwaukee kit. Bought the 12v impact driver,drill and sds set last year and rarely have the 18v versions out of the box now! Generally buy from Powertoolmate when on offers either on eBay or their website. There’s also a group on Facebook.

Don't always discount TS or SF. Obviously don't use them if not on offer and check the model number carefully. But sometimes they do do a decent deal. I rarely check Milwaukee but have a few bits of Makita from Screwfix as they were on offer

Aye. Not expecting the 190Nm it advertises. That would take my van wheelnuts off.

I think you would need more than that. My 1/2" one is apparently 500nm and sometimes that struggles with wheel nuts if the battery is a bit low.

I have used Milwaukee since before it was cool dad uses DeWalt but I don't like the feel as much

Yeah never seen a good price in TS or SF. Shop around as I've found different suppliers sometimes have much better deals

For the fairly light use I’d give it, a lesser brand would probably do. Went up to feel the Dewalt just now. Bought a tub of ice cream instead.

I wouldn't buy from those bastards again. Screwed me over this year and zero support for warranty. FFX and SGS and ITS are all pretty good. My local RGB branch are now competitive on Dewalt .
