Does it come with a shovel to fill the rest of it up with?

Also interesting why was it driving out side of a demo zone? Looks like over the pedestrian walkways.

Am I right in saying JCB didn’t appear again at plantworx? What are they playing at, surely it’s got to be loosing them at least afew sales?

If your order book is full, certainly for JCB, a day at the races seems to be the way to reward the right people.
They did have a spate afew years ago that they looked after the little guys, in the hope oneday they’d become the big boys! This seems to have gone down the drain, alot of the top folk at jcb have left in recent years.. probably had a change in direction!

" pride comes before a fall " too conceited to mix with the plebs?
Or conspicuous in their absence ..why waste money on folk who already know all about your kit...I'd say they know what they doing ...
We all know what trade shows are for...freebies and booze

Sure Hitachi had a stand all had different tiltys on them?
I think that was to promote the Hitachi Connect thing? The fact you can spec different brands of tilty direct from factory?
I was maybe wrong to say Hitachi didn’t have a stand. But what they did have was very small and not exactly a lineup of their kit, a tiny stand in itself, no demo area, a stand so small you’d easily miss it…

JCBs absence from these sorts of events seems odd, However, I wonder if they have sat down with some stats and a calculator and realised that attending such events just simply doesn’t pay.
Unless you have a stand selling ice creams or burgers then I think you are lucky to take orders at shows like Plantworks. Yes I’m sure some of the smaller kit gets orders, attachments and the like, even then I’d question if the sums add up and how many of those orders would have found their way anyway, but how many machines or substantial purchases get made on the day?
Yes there will be leads from a show that turn into sales, but can they definitely be attributed to the fact the manufacturer exhibited a particular event?
Most of us would probably think twice about just the transport cost of getting kit to Plantworks for the Takeuchi stand for example, they had a lot on display and the whole event must have cost a pretty penny to attend. I wonder how many machine orders were taken over the three days on that stand?
JCB may have just realised that they don’t need to be at these shows to promote their products and keep the order books full. Short sighted? Maybe? But it might just be maths and good business….

Wasn’t just JCB though, no Wacker Neuson, Belle (always used to have a massive stand full of small kit) Amman, CAT (anything bigger than 8t), kobelco, Volvo etc. Quite a few big players of various sizes of kit weren’t there. And the demo areas are not what they used to be.
I had a great time, really enjoyed it, but if you wanted to look at shiny metal there wasn’t a massive amount to see.
Except for that pistonbully with 450hp that I tried to get @Shovelhands to buy but he was having none of it!

I don’t know how much business happens at these shows but I think it’s just a social thing to meet people and get contacts.I always prefer plant shows to agriculture shows and get treated far better.can hardly get the time of day of agriculturural dealers and I’m mainly a farmer.

My dad always said back in the day he did all his machinery buying at the annual ploughing match, obviously way before the internet and such like.
They are a perfect opportunity to see what everyone has to offer and buy what you want there and then.. but realistically who does this anymore? Obviously you can’t because half the big boys can’t be bothered to show!
