Pistons Broke on Kubta K-008

Part of the reason there is a lack of genuine kubota parts (ie you probably won't be able to get every part to rebuild an engine from them) is that they reckon (or at least used to) their manufacturing is that good that beyond a headgasket or something simple an engine issue would have to be something major and uneconomical to repair. If they are right there'll be more than pistons needed.

Just a thought, but is it the original engine? (if not, it could have a lot more than 3k on it).

Can you feel any ridge at the top of the ring travel?
Is it just the top ring or both that's broken?
The bores look good, but my thoughts are that if its had a new set of rings and they've hit a ridge, then broken top ring and damaged piston is exactly what you'd expect.

Graham said - Negligible ridge. Mostly taken out by honing. The rings won’t knock any more than the originals!! Just got pistons in. Looking good so far. Photos later…..

So did I on my 1500 Mk 1 Cortina - went everywhere in that old car

So back on thread, have spoken to my Graham. He say that he is watching our ramblings - how embarrassing
AND he can report that the D722 engine is back together and running well.
He's just got to adjust the tappets properly then it's good to go.
The heater circuits for glow plugs works OK
AND all the hydraulics work OK
I'll get some more photos and maybe a video for y'all to dribble over

Just noticed it’s an older model. The engine sits front-back but in my K008-3 it’s across the machine. Do the tracks expand? I think the light blue machines were home market only originally.
