He’s not running Devon’s premier scrapyard though!Personally I wouldn't Fk around with propane.
My bottles cost around £360 rent Per annum plus refills...... Well worth it.

TBF though you struggle to use gas edging lawnsHe’s not running Devon’s premier scrapyard though!

you mean the mix and match type 5 Bri? ...I’m a bit lost here, AHPP, are you using propane or DA? If DA I’d suggest a Sapphire torch set, you can use the same torch with a cutting nozzle, rosebud or welding nozzles. My experience, bending something like 12 mm bar, a no. 10 nozzle uses less gas than a cutting torch, concentrates the heat and is easier to get a tight bend. I use a Sapphire cutting torch more than a dedicated torch and have done 1” plate before now. Downside is if you use one at its limits too much you’ll be replacing O rings a bit more frequently.
exactly doubled since 2010 then - were 90 quid a bottle, P/A for W oxys/Argos and H DAs back then .. hardly ever used propane for hand work either - too slow and too much faff - did use it on the profile cutter thoughPersonally I wouldn't Fk around with propane.

try pressing it more slowly Doob and adjusting the fuel gas as you do - it's not an on/off tapWith the right size nozzle, yes.
I've never had any luck getting that pepperpot the Druid posted a photo of working. It takes its oxy from the cutting lever channel and as soon as I press the lever it blows out.
Brazing you will find cumbersome even with a small nozzle, on the end of a bloody great cutting torch. I have a splitter on my pipes and a small brazing torch, which also comes in handy for heating inside pipes and deep bosses etc where you are restricted.
That’s it, Gra, the mix and match sets. All these years and I didn’t realise the Nm is branded Sapphire as well. We do have an NM in the cupboard, the only time it comes out is for curing badly worn out bucket edges, centre pivot bearings, blowing pins out or anything else where I want to work at arms length. I can use the mix and match torch one handed.you mean the mix and match type 5 Bri? ...
the NM250/400 is also a Saffire
I much prefer the NM torch for general cutting and a little AFN shank and cutting head, with the mini nozzles for fine cutting.

torches will have a value, but they upped the fill pressures on cylinders in 2008 to 230 bar and many old clocks could not cope with the increase - bags'll be bollo-ed probably - flash backs'll be OK -AFAIK a cutting torch is for cutting, welding torch for welding, they're not really interchangeable.
I was taught to use oxyacetylene to weld, heat and cut and used it for years, but when it got difficult and pricey to get bottles I was forced to ditch it.
It puts a lot of heat into metal which can be problematic. I was going to offer all my old stuff for sale (If I could find it), but because of the way things have gone it's probably worth FA.
I went electric with a Mini-Ductor, plasma cutter and a Mig. Yes there was a few £k there, but no rent and major expense.
bar coding was being introduced in late 2010/early 2011, so you've had that a while StuWe have a bottle of acetylene that's not barcoded so is used sparingly for brazing only any cutting or heating oxy and propane so are only paying rental on oxy and the one for the mig
Yep tis an old bottlebar coding was being introduced in late 2010/early 2011, so you've had that a while Stu![]()

Hey! It's just because it was topical"price excludes cylinders"... bloody dear in that case
" supplied with a 1/32" NM cutting nozzle which can cut up to around 3-4mm steel "they haven't got a clue -- do 12 - 16mm no sweat with that
£100 deposits on cylinders too ... might as well get some full size, or at least decent size 'mainstream' bottles from a rent free outfit like SGS
but if you want DA, you're gonna have to deal with BOC/Air Products/AGA ...
just cutting - any old propane bottle'll do![]()
