I want a torch for the usual, stuck nuts, bit of bending, bit of cutting. Fairly light duty. I already have propane on hand for the kitchen stove so oxy propane seemed logical. Why is acetylene so much more common? It would mean the inconvenience of an extra bottle but I’ll do it if there’s good reason.
Second thing. Whether I go propane or acetylene, are burning sets normally OK to buy second hand (my usual preference) or are they one of those things where you don’t f**k around and you pay a shop?
