Overflow parking

Weedkillers have been banned for the public for a year or two here in France and I am continually getting asked what we can offer driveways ect , lots of people dont like concrete or tarmac and everyones gravel driveways are basically just weeds now (mine down to the man cave included) and I wondered if anyone had any experience with an overflow parking type product that would be suitable for certain secondary drives to garages etc ie grass grows through and can be mown but allows traffic in winter all the same.

Cheers

Gas burners are expensive to run and time consuming.
I heard it was coming there too ?
With regard to weedkillers, a river borders our garden and there is barely any insect life now compared to when we arrived 🤷‍♂️
Whats happening ?

If they are rarely used what about geo grids filled with soil and grass seed so the grass overtakes the weeds but can still be driven on.
Or more expensive option is resin drives
So you retain the gravel look

Or try and think of something where a Stihl power broom can be used to scrub the weeds off

Don't resin drives grow weeds and moss in the resin bound gravel?

What about offering a service with a Land leveller/grubber on a small tractor or loader. Rip up and level the gravel once or twice a year

Resin bound gravel isnt really an option for us its too labour intensive and costly.

Thankfully we are flat out with our bread and butter work but I keep getting asked about options for low maintenance drives etc and dont have any answers other than tarmac or concrete 🤷‍♂️

The plastic grid is an option but I dont like the idea of yet more plastic.

Too busy really to do maintenance type work and think you would do well to get the weeds up without pulling the hardcore below the gravel 🤔

You can get the concrete blocks that grass can grow through. But even they need a bit of effort to lay properly.

Only trouble with all your grasscrete, grids etc is eventually the grass grows over the top and you end up no better off than grass for mud if its wet. Most of the issues with gravel come from what's underneath it if it doesn't drain well. At least with gravel you can scrape it off with ditching bucket and re gravel, not so easy with other methods.

Don't complain - suggest what's better

This kind of thing ?
I've seen those in a few places. Doesn't look anything like the nice grass shown on the web site. It loos like lots of little concrete squares with grass in between - in my view horrible.

Even tar unless it's got traffic over it/ kept clean will go nice and mossy.
Sometimes you have to look at it from the point of view of which is easier to tidy up later rather which might stay looking better longer because it's gonna be to do at some point. Like customers saying to me they want some fancy looking gravel ordered from miles away and i tell them in a couple of years time when there's a couple of bare places are you gonna be able to stomach paying over £100 for a dumpy bag when you can get limestone chippings for £25 a ton 🤷‍♂️

I try talk them into gravel from local quarry for exactly the same reasons 👍
