What header tank (that was supposed to have water in it) would fill the engine cylinder with water if over filled?

Sounds odd to me. Can’t help but wonder if water was deliberately put in a cylinder by a disgruntled employee and the damage occurred when the new staff started the engine.

I can’t see ‘Any old ‘engineer’’ being allowed near a ship engine they aren’t familiar with. Definitely some form of industrial espionage going on I’d wager.
I heard that P and O were pretty beholden to an extremely militant unionised workforce and that’s what led to the mass sackings - obviously it was an incredibly unpopular move and the press and subsequently politicians have gone to town but it sounded as though they weren’t given much choice but to clear out a load of deadwood…

Interestingly it is reported that 799 of the 800 have accepted the generous pay offs they have been offered after having employment terminated with no notice. The other one is a chef, that is taking them to court for…….£67million!! He must have been on some wedge to justify that much!!

Whilst it's disgusting and reprehensible, the bottom line is within 48 hours they had got rid of the old and in with the new.

If they had announced or discussed it with the militant RMT, the union would still be striking now.

Union's don't serve anyone bar the useless.

Whilst I always try and treat people reasonably, at the end of the day companies are there to make a profit, not for the social good. They only pay people who produce more than they cost (unless you work for the government). Anything else is charity or communism.

Thing is them rams only push (lifting the boom) very rare to push the boom down on a rehandle, only picking stuff off the ground so quite easy not to hear the ‘knock’ shame he didn’t grease it😂

Could easily have had an auto greaser that wasn’t delivering? Still no excuse for not noticing it getting that far!

I dare say, if it was a twin ram set up the other ram would take some of the knock out of it until it got bad, remote greaser/auto lube no ones looked up further than the door handle.
