I don’t know how old the video is, but I thought this was so well known now that they had all been replaced now! That could have been rather fatal.
When I got my RRS I checked it had the bolt and brace tow bat rather than the twist and fall version.
Are you saying that is a known Landrover fault and they haven't got hold of all the owners? Surely if it were a safety recall it would be picked up on the MOT that it hadn't been rectified or is that too much joined up thinking?

Probably more the fact that the detachable towbars have a lower towing capacity but everyone assumes 3.5 ton hanging off them is ok

Quite well known that high use of the towball causes wear and they fall out
The socket is welded in and land rover where chopping them out replacing the socket then fitting the upgraded tow bar which has extra supports back to the chassis
Although apparently at some point in production they changed the socket and was no longer a problem

balance point too far forward ... boom needed to be higher and dipper closer to the machine .... didn't take a lot for it to reach the critical over centre point

No way that should have been rigged like that. The handbook of an excavator usually covers this, and it’s never under the undercarriage like that was! Id be very surprised if there weren’t recommended lifting points on the upper structure.

Yes, similar to that, I’d be surprised if there isn’t similar info in every machines handbook.
