Re the Cornish lorry
We are currently working by the bus turn around lay-by on the old collapsed road by Mamtor and castelton basically the only place you can spin a long vehicle rd in the entire 10 mile long valley.
There are effectively 3 routes from Sheffield to Manchester snake pass currently shut, hope valley which takes you up winnats pass of top gear much used fame.(narrow steep 7.5 ton limit) and the truck route via Tideswell and peak Forrest A6
As snake is shut they’re diverting ppl onto the the hope valley one and then there is a rd mid point in valley up to A6 to get over to Manchester side.
Junction is well sign posted clearly says no 7.5 ton 5 miles ahead unsuitable for 32ft plus etc
We are getting 6-8 wagons a day who make it to our dead end to turn around because “I was following sat nav on my phone” or then thy ask if they’ll get up winnats despite it being 7.5 ton.
Means they’ve had to snake through castelton which is tight and a big S section in the middle of it with load of tourists and cars
Also annoying there is an expect for access part to the 7.5 ton limit as there is a mine experience place at the bottom of winnats on the flatish bit before it gets steep and narrow so drivers seem to think that means if there going to Manchester etc they’re ok to use it. Was blocked few days ago by 6 wheeler cargo who was spun out on the top steep bit.
Are professional drivers that bad nowadays?
