We do alot of highways work and it's honestly the worst place to work.
Had 2 people hit me with wingmirrors as I'm setting out TM as they where to impatient. Had countless arguments. And people all complain about temporary TM but the reason that it has to be so over the top is the lack of respect from car drivers.

I think it's Germany that they park lines of written of roadworks vehicles down the side of the road as a reminder to pay attention.
France too - park them up at the tollroad booths.

We had a fatality on A30 last Sunday. Was a TM/Council oppp clearing a tree branch I think. Lorry jackknifed and one in hosp and one dead and driver arrested. No one winning.
Those working on roads deserve all they get paid plus double .
Was just thinking that tonight. Just come back down M6 from in-laws. Horrendous weather pitch black. Driving rain watching 3 lads setting the cones on a lane 1 closure. Miserable doesn't come close with idiots and inch or two away doing 70-80mph. No thanks

We’ve done a fair bit of work within traffic management over the years and I can’t remember a single job that hasn’t had at least one knobhead driver who could have caused injury/death if the lads hadn’t had their wits about them. I have a fairly even temper nowadays but always end up wanting to beat someone to a pulp when working roadside!

I seem to remember at one point(maybe still do) Tarmac would only work within a full road closure , they class a passing car as a near miss!

Having Worked on afew motorways at night with my back to the traffic even on a machine is pretty unnerving…

bit of a lack of self preservation on the victim's part as well though ... pretty nonchalant 'stroll' out into a very busy FLT populated yard
I thought that. Eyes on a swivel in any yard with trucks
Guess it's like a sixth sense when you've grown up with em. Often have to heard folk away who just expect a machine to drive round em.

Nasty way to go though 😳😳
