Only ever briefly done highways work.

Once had someone pass 7 road ahead closed signs, had to drive on the opposite side of the carriageway to go around them and then get confused that the roads closed. All of which I'd put out.

Another time on the same job actually, old boy drove into the lane closure seemingly unaware that we'd closed the junction and drove into the heras off lane, when he spotted the trench drove back out.

The standard of driving these days is shocking.

We do alot of highways work and it's honestly the worst place to work.
Had 2 people hit me with wingmirrors as I'm setting out TM as they where to impatient. Had countless arguments. And people all complain about temporary TM but the reason that it has to be so over the top is the lack of respect from car drivers.

I think it's Germany that they park lines of written of roadworks vehicles down the side of the road as a reminder to pay attention.

Follow a farming page on Facebook, they interview farmers in the tractor cab, never seen either the driver or passenger with a seatbelt on once!! Always flat out hauling down the road too.. once youve headbutted the windscreen you put your seat belt on regardless of how uncool you’ll look!!
During the sudden snow we had in Cornwall back in 2005, my mother was stranded overnight at Lostwithiel. Her main memory of the experience is watching an air ambulance picking up a machine driver (think backhoe) with severe head injuries from hitting a raised manhole whilst clearing snow. Presumably no seatbelt.

I know of one who did similar...mashed his stomach/intestings on the steering wheel.

Never use the front bucket without something grabbed in..like an old sleep or digger track and very very slow.

Done the same, mucking away with 3cx years ago, hit kerb and stopped dead.
Worst I ever did was roading a Ford 555c in Australia, young and stupid wearing a Sony Walkman, saw a lorry steaming up behind me so indicated for him to pass, indicated left with the shuttle lever!,watched him fly past me whilst laying against the windscreen with machine at 45 degrees down a bank, very ,very lucky boy.

Only serious snow clearing I did in the Uk was 1987 on an old Cat 941. That didn’t baulk at manholes or kerbs, it just took them right out, as I saw when the snow melted.

Yeah that’s okay but I get pissed explaining to people why I have INDICATER U TWAT tatooed on the back of my right hand !

Currently got a Wacker Neuson dumper on site , jerky hydrostatic drive is bad enough without the controls being on the wrong side. Wouldn't be so bad if I wasn't clinging to the side of a now muddy hill .........
.... and I'm supposed to be on best behaviour 🤣🤭
