Hi all going to go have a fiddle with my little dumper again any recommendations for cheap set of crow feet spanner’/sockets to tighten up the hose block attatched at the bottom on the outside of the steering column.

If you can undo the other end slide a ring spanner down the hose tighten it up like that! Photos

If I lift the engine cover, on the hydraulic tank is a cap that spins and another with a gauge on it with a needle most of the gauge is green with a tiny section of red.

Some one borrowed my dumper and tore a hose in two by driving over a metal post. I’m now more inclined to think that they have just replaced the hose and not topped it up and the weep has now lost enough to affect it.
I have downloaded the manual but I’m not a fitter it tells me how much it holds but not much else lol

Take the lid off the tank and look inside. It should be at least half to 3/4 full (but not brimmed).

If the needle does work on the gauge would that show half way on the green or all the way round ?

Anywhere in the green is good! This is vacuum! The spiny top cap is a breather filter cover, does it steer?

Yes drives fine just the tip and lower raise skip being random. They work fine when first started then stop after a few uses. I found a small weep from a hose on the block at the bottom of the steering column I’m going to see if fixing this helps

If it definitely steers then it could be the priority valve is messing around!

Hi all tightened up weep still no change. For some reason I can’t upload any videos from my iPad. Only picture of gauge I’m afraid. I didn’t have a large enough spanner to take the chrome cap off to look in the tank but I took the filter housing cap off and this was full to the brim. Still doing the same all works fine for a minute then lose low tip and lower raise. Anyone local to Bishop Stortford who can fix this I don’t have the skill set lol

the gauge is to alert you to a blocked return filter ...
with the top off the filter housing it will be full, but does not indicate the state of the contents or level of the tank itself

Yeah, if you pull the filter housing out you will be able to check level. You might be able to check more easily by removing the filter and inserting some clean plain fencing wire or similar as a makeshift disptick.

When the skip is lifted and tipped as far as it will, are you still able to drive normally? Assuming yours is a hydrostatic version rather than a gearbox, if you can still drive normally this suggest that the fluid levels are OK. If it's jerky drive, jerky steering then oil must be low.

Seem to drive and steer just fine. Just the lose of the functions mentioned after a min.Skip drops when engine off button pressed and keys turned on. If I go back next day same again all works for a min then plays up. It’s only done about two weeks hard work since a supposed full service (all fluids filters changed). I can’t say I trust the firm that did it as they did a half arsed job on my digger!!!
Hence I’m a have ago Henry on here. I’ve only actually met one decent fitter(since disappeared) the others have all been really nice people but to be honest full of s**t.
