do it as well as you can,but learn to do it better
spose they drag a jake around and pushing ten tonnes of loaded 6t Thwaites ... should cope nicely with the right box behind it in a 7.5

they do round here, if you want to keep yer licenses

Iveco dailys will carry 1.5t more than a traditional 7.5t lorry
Isuzus will carry 750kg more than a traditional 7.5t lorry
Around here the only people running traditional 7.5t lorry's are those that arnt running at 7.5t

Tis why I bought a 10t tipper. Get 5t legally on it which a mega heavy tar body on it.
It's why I call anything under 13t utterly pointless. It baffles me when people start winging about the benefits of a 7.5t lorry as it's really like comparing a Track Barrow and a Wheelbarrow....

But that Volvo is smart and at £3500 it's a f****ng steel.

Those Phasers will put out plenty enough power for a little wagon like that..... Plus it's completion at the time would of been either a Daf 45..... A gutless Merc 814 (817's with the 6 pot where rare, but lovely) or the likes of a Bedford/AWD TL750...... All of which where shite too.

I know a 7.5 tonner isn’t ideal but it’s a start in the world of lorrying for me. Especially for £3500 😂
When I get my “big” licence I will have more options, and I will know better then what lorry would suit my work best. I do like the idea of a grab lorry or a hook lift one. Preferably a cheap old school wagon.

Well impressed with the FLC so far, it seems to be allergic to diesel, which I won’t complain about. Mechanic is well impressed with it too, says it’s got all new brakes, no rot anywhere and gearbox and steering etc is tight as a drum. Reckons it’s been serviced lately too going by the condition of the oil. Regardless, it’s going to him soon for a full service and check over.

only if you have the license to drive it though ... otherwise it's a 7.5

No the iveco daily is 7.2t so obviously driven on the old licence and have a gross weight of 300kg less but still carry 1.5t more.
The Isuzu is 7.5t but still carrys 750kg more than the traditional wagons. Rarely see new traditional wagons around here now.
Rare to see a new 7.5t wagon now.

Yes especially when you look at what newer 7.5tonners will carry. It's no wonder that Fred will take a chance and over load a 3.5t vs what they see as the agro of anything bigger

Just something I'm pondering tell me if it's bonkers..

Surely it makes more sense to make it easier to run up to 7.5t on B license? Even if you went to just 5.5t?
Or add a basic B&E and go up 7.5t.?
The fact you can't have more than 1.4t ish payload in a van and yet you can happily tow a nodding 3.5t behind any old heap of junk seems daft?
Surely a properly sorted lil 5.5t or 7.5t truck limited to 60 is safer than a fked up old defender and ifir?🤔
Yours frustratedly...

Tbf what is the point when a 3.5t ifors legally carrys the same as a euro 6 7.5t lorry. Tow it with a 3.5t tipper and you have a tonne of extra carrying capacity with no hassle. They really should move the weight classes around. I know everyone will say they will just overload the next size up. But a 10 tonner running 3t overweight is a lot better than 3.5t running 500kg over

I have said for years that deregulating trucks under 13t for Non Haulage would seriously improve safety..... Knock the O license requirements on the head but insist on a plating/MOT test every 6 months with zero tolerance for repeat offenses of poor lorries. Would rapidly improve things.

I recommend biting the bullet and going to a decent size truck, 12t minimum then of a sudden all this messing about with what you can and cant carry is finished and no need to pay a premium for a towable digger, you get better value in 3.5t digger market and it carries tilty/attachments better etc.
