Interesting thing mine has an "Oil life" gauge on the digital dash. Currently at 53% and only 6k in so could well be something about getting regular 10-12k oil changes. Mine will deffo be getting one by 12k latest.

The new Defender.....
Laugh at me if you want, but what I initially wrote off as an expensive waste of time actually begins to make some sense when you look at the competition.
Grenadier don't do commercial
Ranger/Amarok now £45k+vat upwards and have weight issues as discussed already
Dmax is actually better for weight but only has 1.9l engine - puts me off at least.
Sanyong Musso is the only truck you can tow 3.5t and have 1t in the back! And they do an extended bed version.... Tempting I must say but made in China puts me off
Hilux is way behind the times sadly
No Nissan or Mitsubishi in the UK anymore....
So take another look at the Defender commercial, 7t train weight, 6cyl engine, very nice up front, not the best in the back with the shape of the available space but could it be made to work with some decent shelving?
Has anyone got a new Defender on here? Apart from @rossandson I know he has! But anyone else? When you consider what you get included and that the prices on the website INCLUDE VAT - they arent so far away from the pickups.

@Gunners , go enquire with your local LR dealer and get them to send you on the off-road course, or if not go get a 2hr test drive.
The only problem with the defender is knowing when to stop with the spec - you can literally spend anything you want when you keep adding the options on!
I’m genuinely torn at the moment too - we seem to be in the same conundrum!

We have one but as daily driver/kid carrier not work truck as such although you'd think it was from the state of it🫣
Hands down best car of its size I've ever had goes like stink..really like it awesome to drive really Sussed the suspension etc.
Quite a lot of working ones round here now plenty of farmers in them etc.
Negatives I'd say, the rear boot might not be best compared to pickup for space...
Rear door is handy for access for small tools not far to reach ...nice height to access but utter pita with trailer.
Air suspension controls in boot ace for trailer hookups.
Options ...sky's the limit but happy enough with our S spec.
BUT big negative ....cost for 5/6 seater versions are ridiculous just looking at replacing it. Gone up 10k in 3 years .
So what the future holds I'm not sure ATM
Only done 55k in it not had one issue apart from recall for a main hose but didn't cause us an issue...for what it's worth. My opinion is the Slovakian made LR stuff is more reliable but I'm sure someone will be along to argue shortly

The 1.9 in the Isuzu absolutely tears the ar** of your shape Nissan. That's with an empty Nissan and a loaded Isuzu.
Ssangyong are Korean not chink. Don't know how much difference it makes. They are also monocoque with no chassis.
My boss got rid of his new defender after the second cracked crank 4th windscreen and 3rd front light unit. Oh and the electric towbar fell off. They are at least very work like in design. Far more of a replacement for the disco for than the disco 5 is.
What about a Hilux. Won't set the world alight but the 10 year warranty must count for something and not an unreasonable price when compared to a ranger or amorak.
Oh and I think the order book is open for the new Land cruiser.
Supposed to be cheaper than ineos or the defender.

Yes I think you are right, just the few they have in stock, are the last ones with the v8 fitted. They seem to import some older used ones aswell though, some with the 4.2.

My ranger had a little tiny coolant leak at around 4k miles, as in a 10p sized droplet after leaving it on a polished concrete floor all day.do they boll*x
Booked it in with ford's, asked if there was a service due soon while it was there, they looked at me head had come off

Never any mention of who buys this nicked stuff or perhaps the police actually doing something about it? Surely if it really is as bad as it's portrayed there must be huge compounds full of stolen stuff?
