There's a big difference in buying one and using it as they are damn good but to take out a loan and spend 20k on a full set just for willy waving purposes ..
Spot on, a well bought used one is a great investment👍
Saw a young lad buy an Aldi (surprisingly sturdy) 6 drawer box at auction the other week, stuffed full of spanners, hammers, grips, sockets etc with a lot of decent makes mixed in for £350. About as close to a ready made proper tool kit as you'll find, way better buy than an empty box on the weekly. 👍👍

Well my old teng box is going in my van, been a great box but I’ve out grown it 4 times over! Everything else is dewalt boxed, not sure if to invest in the dewalt racking system or just stack the boxes up on a custom shelving system.

What happened to the sling it on the floor and find it later method. 🤪🤪.

I couldn't justify a van dedicated to tools, I've thought about it but where do you draw the line at what tools you take/how you get them to the job.
I carry machine essentials and decent spanners/socket set but that's it.

As always I suppose it depends on your own needs but for me no dedicated tool chest would be the solution to my work.

I rekon mine as it is saves a good few minutes a day which adds up over the year

It’s what I do!
New Milwaukee ones look ok .
Wish they'd bring the US General stuff over here gets good reviews for the money.
SGS stuff is ok priced but looks a bit chinky. Interested to know any real world feedback.
Recently bought a little hilka 2 drawer for my pickup... embarrassingly crap. Ready to toss it already.
Wtf can't stuff be built properly anymore
SGS I bought 20 years ago it’s still good, has been in 4 vans, but another fitter bought a box similar from SGS it is lower quality and fell apart quite quickly once in the van!!

do it as well as you can,but learn to do it better
I don't know how anyone could justify that sort of money just for the toolbox. I get you want quality, but you can pick up used Polstor or similar for a fraction of the price and they are superb quality.
exactly my thoughts Gra ... they're probably 3-4 times the price new because they are absolutely superbly built, to last forever. Most of these 'tool boxes' are priced by name, not quality.

Dave sparks has a couple of these and they treat em like crap...
I like the idea of being able to just move from vehicle to vehicle or lug it the job directly. Prob get most of what you need in it ..and no rust few quid though 😳

Pelican stuff is very good, but again has a premium for the brand name ... my concern with those would be condensation and the slightest damage rights them off, realistically .. nigh on impossible to repair

I put that one up a few days ago -- it's cheap
this isn't dear ...
and bombproof ... I have one about 2m high which splits circa 60/40 like that one .... hell of a price new and unbeatable quality

just noticed it includes contents too

I have a Pelican wheeled carry on I use as an overnight bag. Bought it second hand on ebay probably 25 years ago. It gets used most weeks often in the back of trucks or pickups with all the gear. It has sustained some damage, but fantastic build quality. Fully water proof, dust proof etc. I would happily pay for the Pelican tool box if spannering was my business.

Doesn’t everything just jam up in the draws when you turn it onto its wheels? Not going to be how you left it that’s for sure.. unless you foam insert everything.
