New DeWalt grease gun giving me problems

I've always used a hand pump gun for machinery but thought I'd upgrade to a cordless DeWalt. I've got it all loaded and it pumping grease fine, but half the time it's going on like the nipple is blocked, grease just squirts out the side. As far as I can tell it's clicking on to the nip just fine, but sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. Any ideas?

The nipples on the machine are quite possibly warn out. Either that or a faulty chuck. I would try new nipples first.

I don't think there's anything wrong with the nipples
as I can get them to take grease with the hand pump!

I could try replacing the chuck but seems unlikely on a new gun...

There are a lot of different nipple profiles and it sounds like yours simply aren't compatible.

Can you swap chucks to see how it goes?

Ah, ok. I hadn't considered that. I'll have a look into that in the morning. I believe the DeWalt coupler is an NPT 1/8" and the grease nipples look similar to your second example but a bit hard to tell in the dark

That's the most common thread used, so most chucks are interchangeable. I've got one on BSPF and I've seen metric, but NTP is by far the most common.
Nipples on the other hand be can anything, but generally consistent with the machines origin.

Can't fault that nipple, looks pristine.

Grease? New ones don't need it, and old ones don't deserve it!!!
Is coming out the blow off valve? I found some pin and nipples are tight /going great then "fill" or can't keep up with volume and you need to press the trigger 1/2 or sometimes 1/4 of the way, or they'll still take greese just slowly, but that valve is a pain to clean without brake cleaner. The other thing I found with them is never lend it to anyone they'll run it dry and get air into it, there's a nack to changing the cartridges, the moment the plunger touches stop pumping and change it. If air gets in it's a f u#*k of a job to prime, and you'll be wearing a tube of grease

They are all computer rendered and as we know, there are many stages between the drawing board and the parts counter.

Most battery grease guns in the UK at least are M10 fine thread.

I had to get an adaptor to use npt 1/8 3 jaw Alemite nipples on my Milwaukee and Makita guns.

Definitely a computer drawing, the one I photographed is a 3B-8490.

I ended up switching the couplings out and they work fine. The DeWalt coupling that came with the gun didn't have an adjustable chuck and just seemed to be too loose on the nips.
