used to have three cranes running Cummins V8s ... a 504 in a Grove TMS180 and two 555s in a Coles 25/28 and an 825 Supertruck .... twin stacks ... virtually straight throughs ..... sounded absolutely glorious .... whichever way out of my old yard was an uphill pull, but gentle enough to 'make progress' up the box :love::love::giggle:

Did you film that? It sounds like whoever did maybe liked it a bit too much!....
No mate I didn't film it.There are several vids of the old girl on the tube.that one is a bit tame to a couple of them! There's just something about those Motown 2strokes, sounds

Good old detroit 2 stroke diesel had one in terex scraper and had one in champion grader ,Grader was a direct drive and when you hit a hard bit you had to be quick on the clutch pedal or the fire would be out

Didn't the yank truckers used to say that Detroits were like young women ....... sounded real good round town but didn't perform when you got them out in the hills 🤣

I do like the sounds that the old diesels made and used to like the smell ....we live in different times 🙄

a mate had a bedford 6 wheeler roll on skip truck that had a detroit 2 stroke in it i think a v6 his sometimes would start in wrong direction if he nearly stalled it or similar black smoke would fill the cab etc it had some sort of flap on engine inlet to be able to stop it if engine ran away. he thought it was not powerfull enough when it was up to its max weight and soon sold it on, think for export.

mate had a CZ 350 or 400 (?) 'crosser which was timed so close to TDC it was luck of the draw which way it ran ... would very often take off back'ards 😅
