how does it work
He makes templates out of tin 10mm or 3/8" smaller than than your finished item, a little wheel that`s magnetized follows around the edge of the template and transfers the shape to the torch.

that's it ... follows a template much like a pantographic version, 'cept it's motorised not manual .. the speed controller varies the drive wheel speed around the template ... everything (the X & Y axes) needs to glide smoothlyI think its the same as my mate has got

Is it though? From what I’ve seen, you’re a dab hand with the torch. And you’ve got to spend the time to make the template.
I guess if you are making multiple of something then it might be worth the time?

I have swapped from matbro pin and cone to manitou so need to convert about 10 attachments plus any more I build/convert I costs about £150-200 for a set of brackets and I have steel plates coming out of my ears
so home grown for me, I’ve made a template that I cut around that works well but would be fun to piss about with a new toy plus I can put a picture of it in the ‘what I bought today‘ thread

used to have a little magic eye profiler, would do IIRC about 750 x 450 components ... was good once set up but getting the drawing 'acceptable' for the lil' sod was a work of art ...... 1mm Rotring draught'sman's pen on drawing paper/parchment was the best I found for a good neat black line for it to follow .... was very accurate once you'd got the suss on it.

I see what your saying but if making Say a set of bucket brackets that have to match you only make one template and because it’s made from something like 2mm plate can cut on my hand shear and rub up on the linisher my biggest problem is holding the burner square to the job when going around corners doable but takes concentration (which I seem to run out of half way around

Made an extension for the 3 meter body made from half a folding tail lift so when not in use it folds forward and lays flat on the body
just so I could get my telehandler on with the big man basket
even made a light bar for it too
then had to reverse up this ally way

I think I’m waiting for the arse to fall out of the scrap jobneed to get on with it but it’s got 18” of concrete in the bottom of the hull
but managed to acquire a big breaker for my 18 tonner as the burner is struggling with cutting concrete
