Well, the fire triangle demands oxygen, so that will all have been consumed. been an appalling day here ..... got drowned taking little un to nursery this morning and again picking her up lunch time ... been doing a bit of 'housekeeping' in some HDs between times and searching for some particular files ....
tripped over a few pix that might be of interest ... some of the other stuff we used to do ... 'twas wide ranging and pretty varied.
access platform and steps for a machine .. can't recall what exactly .. Aug. '07

Guess who not very often found this side of a camera lens
some large bunded fuel tanks for a local out fit, with lift off lids
tailor made to suit their locations .. odd sizes ... 6mm bund sides on an 8mm base ... 2mm lids, cladding an SHS framework.
used to do a lot of 'tailor made' tanks to fit in odd spaces
Galvanised access swing bridge for the Swansea Canal ..... an' a lump of attic roof steel for a timber frame build ... huge amounts of that sort of stuff
some core drills for a regular who did a lot of pole planting with a 'polecat'

half a dozen timber frame building work/assembly benches/jigs -- had to be cock on perfect .... and a load of panel trolleys for the same place

seeing as I just found these ..... and @Regy53 loves his canals ..... specially for Ross ...
a job for BWW usually started with a call from Kevin, in the local office, who was in charge of all the daily maintenance/running of the Mon & Brec. ... "can you just ......... " well this one was above and beyond the norm. ".... have a look at the spill way weirs up at Llanfrynach ... we need some working platforms for clearing 'em off ... H&S are giving me grief "
took me a day to survey it all and measure up .... one was easy ... t'other was a dog tooth affair .... all had to galv.ed, so had to be perfect straight off and was always left to me to come up with their solutions ..... all had to be man handle-able as no way could i get lifting gear anywhere near this ... middle of nowhere

as if the decks weren't bad enough .... the support system was something else .....
some where I have some pix of this lot installed ...... but damned if I can find 'em .. went in sweet as and fitted like the proverbial glove

aye .... completely f**ked it for the small fabby ..... and made everything twice or more as dear to doAll good looking work there @V8Druid nice fab job. I used to like this kinda work but the EN1090 FPC malarkey has spoiled it with all the requirements for structural engineers certification and material traceability. Dunno what’ll happen after B-day.
.... was intent on baling out anyway, as I was not gonna be arsed with all the BS bollox coming up .... just had my hand forced a little earlier than planned, by me body playing up. If I hadn't loved doing what I did, I'd have gone long before .... the money in it had gone anyway ... was difficult to do more than make a decent living and keep some blokes in a job
overheads were out of control and authorities milked you blind ....I was 'lucky' in that I'd bought my acre pension plan in the early 80s and had been biding my time watching its value climb .. Sold it in 2006, subject to planning and was in the process of sorting that when the crash happened and me buyers' (regional office) went strategically bust ... their head office had the ****ing cheek to ask for their deposit back .... two words .. second one was OFF ...
so 't was head down, arse up and soldier on, 'til things improved .... head office eventually returned with a poorer offer in early 2011 and I bit their hands off, after a bit of negotiation - didn't want to seem too keen
... but wasn't going to better it and insisted on a deposit they would not want to lose a second time. 50% focused their minds on making it happen .... and if it didn't - - it gave me a BIG pile of 'breathing space' .... they desperately wanted my town centre acre site ... and I knew it ....they weren;t used to dealing with an owner direct ... 'specially a switched on one, who'd had a lot of practice dealing with nationals for the previous eight years playing them off against each othertheir national land manager said to me, completion day "I still can't believe you managed to get us to pay you what we did for your site, but it's one of the best we've ever found for our M.O. "

pretty straight forward .. divide the circumference into quarters .... if you're spacing is say 4" ... first quarter is an inch drop from start point ... second is two inches, third, three.... etc.
rolled some 20 mm bar into a spiral, in the section rollers, after sussing the diameter on the first set of markers, then work your way down with a spacer bar, stitching as you go .... only have to get the spiral roughly right in the section rollers ... spacer and brute force sorts the detail.flights weren't critical anyway .... just creating some 'loose' around the drill body, so's it'd come back out the hole easily ..... the 'cutting edge' had six gums and TC teeth fitted into it ... should have some pix somewhere ?
apparently they were awesome at making holes in just about anything
