There’s a firm near here called Millington’s that do a lot of machine recovery. They have a haulage business and drag stuff out ‘on the side’ practically as a paid hobby.
They dragged a 40 tonne crane out for me many years ago with a major and big winch, but also had an ex American military 6x6 wrecker on the low loader that they used to drag a monster ash tree (that the crane was supposed to reach…) out as a bit of a favour (in reality I think it was an excuse to use the truck tbh!).
No pics sadly, it was an expensive disaster of a day unfortunately!
Days u wish u had a gopro Or camera phone 🙄

We think it's a 40-45 ton straight line pull but we need to put a gauge on it to get a true reading, it pulled a js220 out of a peat bog with no sweat

There is not much this will not move, especially with a wire cast block or Three

'79/80 on a V plate'd be historic and exempt from T&T and as a recovery probably license 'free' too
It would only be exempt from tax, if used privately, shows, going down the pub etc :ROFLMAO: Its too new to be MOT exempt as a hgv, even it was it would need testing to earn with it, and there is no recovery exemption any more.

Slight issue .. engine seized ..
looks to me like a Cummins sump sat on the front ...
@Mogman .. got a lump that'd go in there ?? and would it fit on your trailer ?:giggle:

They did however have the option of Detroit V8 2T 305HP supercharged, Rolls Royce Eagle 220/280/305, Leyland/AEC 250HP V8, or Cummins V8-903 Diesel engines.??

few questions really .....
could Mog reverse this 2/3rds of a mile, in down my drive on a bar, behind his unit (cos we'd never turn it around) ??
HTF do I:-
(a) sneak it in past SWMBO
and then
(b) hide the bloody thing
and when could you fit the job in @Mogman :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

not much that wouldn't tow .. rated at 35t and weighing in at 18+
So in answer to the above questions yes I can winch it up the trailer, yes I can carry it, and I could push it down your drive (have a good draw bar on the front😉) and probably got engine that will fit (got 6 foden 8 wheel tippers in the yard at the moment 👍)

Now as for hiding it from Mrs V8 either coming down the drive or for the years it’ll take to ’do up’ I very much dought it😂😂

Got a ballache of a job coming up- rebar some footings with mesh and starter bars round the back of a yard. The Sherpa will fit in the back of the truck, then drag the rebar sheets and lengths 100 yards up a hill to the footings, then carry the bandsaw and all the tools the same. Then I'll use it to run split concrete blocks to use as spacers from the pallets twenty yards away uhpill, over a set of alloy ramps (which we will have brought to unload anyway) to right where they are needed at the end of the 20m footings, the only access to which is over the trench.

That's what it's about, saving labour. You wouldn't have bought the loader just for this, but now I have it... It's just like an extra employee that sits at the yard all day and only costs £250 per month for five years (so probably £50 a month over it's lifespane once finance is paid) plus a couple of beers (petrol) every day he works  A third bloke on this job would be occupied all day just moving materials.

Also loking forward to trying my new Makita rebar tying gun out- had it a few months and hired it out twice but not had call to use it personally.

Rated operating capacity of just 363kg. I'll stick with a Sherpa and a larger MultiOne for proper lifts, plus the ability to easily operate on tarmac and decent travel speeds.

Could be quite a useful all rounder, but at that price secondhand there are far better options even new. These are quite popular with Arb guys, I tried one on site as a fellow contractor had one. Built well and lifted well, but lurching around on the tracks was hell and the mess he made just loading a few logs into a Transit is what convinced me to demo the Sherpa and stick with a 360 mini for timber handling in a tight spot.
