Mini digger rate

I can't deal with it myself I'd rather be sat at home earning nowt than trying to stay awake in digger cab. We're not here long enough to waste too much time.
Also got to be careful getting too comfortable doing it. Did it for too long once and missed a few opportunities

Totally agree - bores the buggery out of me sat titting about all day on day rate half organised.
But I do understand its nice to have a no brainer every now and then .... but you can still pick them up on price work.

Near enough all my work is day work. Generally give people a rough timescale for jobs from details or photos.
It pays the bills, don't really get a lot of the pricework stuff so I'm either far too expensive or people are happy working for peanuts and I'm not willing to go for less than I work it out to and even then it's just worked out on days plus a bit on materials.

There is some posh daywork out there if you look for it. The sort of daywork where you are hired in for a couple of weeks or more, by a professional contractor, to get a project started, working with the contractors own blokes. They know what they are doing, there's some opportunity to use your head like you would on your own jobs and you get to have a craic with the other guys. Come home time, the only thing you need to worry about is filling the diesel can up for the next day.
As its posh daywork, you also get fed posh food by the client. Including 8am croissants, coffee in china worth more than your digger, pizza Fridays, and of course the afternoon "I've just been baking" cake.

What's not to like?

Not really applicable to you guys but worst thing about subby day work if a contractor is their cards in blokes resent the money you're on. A lot of the times a subby tradesman is on more than their contracts manager let alone the lads on the coal face. At least when you've got a 30k machine sat there they kind of understand.

Hey, just looking for some advise and guidance. I’m a digger driver and need to know the going rate per day? I’ve been an operator for 3 years for my employer but looking to earn an extra few quid doing weekend work for now. Can’t afford a digger at the min but saving to purchase one. Any advise would be appreciated.
