Does anyone know if you can run this winch without having a return to tank line fitted? @ACEngineering

What is the purpose of a case drain?

I never asked but new machine is coming with a return line? What benefit on a machine does this give?

case drain line is to return any leakage/bypass within the motor's vanes/pistons/cogs to tank with zero back pressure, other wise the case/body will develop pressure internally

I have reversible motors here with case drain lines ....
drive motors on the 'Drema have case drain and they're piston motors
Looks like 2 @V8Druid ?
agreed ... looks like two .... looks like the valves on there are likely CLRVs so may be catered for within the relief's plumbing?
better piccy would be most helpful

What man as done, man can do, what never has, maybe
Some motors have them (case drains) others not🤔 the hoist on my hiab has one and the new hoist that will be replacing it has but the one on the manitou hasn’t 🤔
