The saga continues, local garage I use ordered an egr valve not the cooler I asked for. Now aparently they need a part number as VW won’t cross reference even though parts seem to be dual-branded. Can’t help but feel frustrated with the van at the moment. Edit: spoken to nearest Man dealer, going tomorrow to collect direct 🙄.

Was at a job yesterday and a local joiner stopped talking to me and asked about my van. He’s got a long wheelbase fwd 3.180 that’s done 40k, allready had a set of driveshafts and now in at dealer with similar coolant loss to mine 😬
Does anyone want to buy a couple of low mileage vans?……

It not that simple, would obviously have to deal with coolant feeds etc.

Nice right foot advantage... solves lotta hassles but ..MOTs needs a sympathetic tester 😉 your also only one tug away from a DVSA wet dream.
There is that, although you can leave the dpf in which is more that they are on the look out for

I’ve seen the dark side kit, but I believe that’s for the older bi-tdi’s.

Then again if they've no reason to stop ya who on here has ever been stopped in a tidy newish van that's not obviously dragging it's arse

From what I have been reading the testers won’t pick up on it even in emissions ! I don’t understand why right enough 🤷

There is no egr test, besides physically looking for a blank.
Egr just pumps dirty air back into the inlet manifold, it's meant to reduce nox values and does bring an engine upto temp quicker, but once upto temp it's limited in use and any wot closes it. Exhaust gases mixing with oil from breather/crank just gums up your inlet manifold and if swirl flaps are fitted they tend to jam

Does a splash of ATF in with the fuel help clean it up ?
