I'm really torn about applying for a restricted op licence or a new 3.5t tipper.
Excl fuel and vehicle cost anyone have a rough idea of running costs for a year?

did you read all (or a lot at least) of the comments consensus seems to be drastically over-priced
think I'd rather an MK31 for a runaround - the rear axle steers on these too - makes for a very manoeuvrable bus :giggle:

Interesting thing last week or two
About 5pm there's a police "commercial vehicle enforcement" van sat on our main roundabout off the M6/m55 .plus couple of cop cars...

And last three times I've seen them they've pulled 2x caravan transport wagons loaded.

From my quick research it looks like abnormal loads embargo is 4pm to 630 so looks like they are stating to enforce it ?

Interestingly it's on a route that could be taken to avoid the big VOSA site at cuerden....someone's using their grey matter...

Yeah was rolling back to base with empty Lowloader last night at 18.30 and they had pulled a Static caravan transporter at Shard bridge nr mini roundabout. Two traffic units and the commercial enforcement van.

They were there again last night with 2x more caravan wagons...no cops in sight but the wagons were locked in! Presume they come and release em at 630? Surely by now the message is out . Unless wagons had parked up themselves.🤔

You'd think so. The job is hard enough without trying to bend the rules. It's far less hassle to try and follow the rules than knowingly bend them. They are already looking for the slightest thing wrong so I try not to give them something to find. For me it's a much less stressful drive than worrying if you are going to get stopped for looking dodgy. A few extra chains and straps can go a long way and that bit of time extra could save hassle down the road.... Don't do any abnormal loads so haven't needed to pay attention to embargo times. Think they'd be better allowing them to move at night with escort as the roads are much quieter....
