Looking for a 12ft tipper trailer and advice.

As per title i'm on the lookout for a 12ft tipper trailer, either new, or nearly new/well looked after.
Never had one before so unsure what i'm doing tbh! Any advice appreciated.
Sorry, lots of questions:
Brian James, Ifor Williams or any other? I don't mind paying for a decent one as it's going to be with me a long time. It'll live outside so corrosion resistance is important. Both of those have totally different designs for things, especially the sides. I would have to upgrade to get higher sides to transport stuff like woodchip.
I will use it for transporting a car occasionally so getting one on, off and being able to lash it down securely is important, at first it seems the BJ looks better in that respect.
The IW is listed as having two wheel options, one 13", one 12". What the difference apart from the price?

Look at the Debon trailers. There tippers they make look well thought out and aren't too heavy. Aluminium sides which save a bit of weight but won't take heavy knocks as well as steel...

bigger rolling circumference is always better for higher speed work - don't get so hot

ive got the big tt3621 12x6 bought late 21 had to wait 8 month was £6.4k with vat and most options now they are about £8k I think

never had a car on unless it was 4x4 think the approach angle would be to steep, I want the winch bracket for mine but Barlow trailers won't post it and not been up that way to collect, but winch be handy for getting things on and off

they're heavy especially with sides on and rattle like bugg ery, I was disappointed with build and Galv quality on mine though.

mates got the Nugent and that has eurolatch sides so doesn't rattle and he's been very happy with his, resale will be interesting though the ifors hold their money

I bought new as couldn't find a decent used one at sensible money

13's savareo better tyre, they tow very well and are nimble

12 foot Ifor is a mega ‘do all’ trailer, it would definitely be the last trailer I’d get rid of (if I could only have one trailer this would be it!).
Ifor do high aluminium sides as an option - it is very thin chequerplate that soon dents but is strong and light (I reckon the aluminium high sides are lighter than the mesh steel equivalents tbh).
Lots of great features, I don’t personally like the lower tailgate setup on these ‘new’ versions but they are great for tipping aggregates etc (which we don’t do much of). The lower tailgate is heavy and needs removing if tipping big loads of chip/logs.
If you can fit it in the trailer it will tow and tip it back out at the other end, they are very strongly built.
You can whip the sides off easily and fit a lot of cars on - Mini estate, Golf, Vauxhall Combo van etc will go on without removing the headboard. The old version’s headboard came off really easily (it was heavy but you could get it off in a couple of minutes on your own if you had the knack) and you could then fit a 110 Land Rover on the deck - the new headboards are a lot more work to remove (but they can still come off if you need to transport a longer vehicle).
2.7 tonne digger goes in the back easily (can climb them in without ramps no bother, the floor isn’t particularly high).
The aluminium sides ‘hide’ what you have onboard, but tying stuff down with them fitted can be awkward (I’ll get lashing points in the floor of the next one).
13 inch wheels on these have the heavier duty 185 Savero tyres which are the best trailer tyres out there in my opinion.
Get one bought, you’ll wonder how you managed without it!

For tree work I actually prefer the older version - you can side-load the ramps onto the floor rails and winch big logs up (parbuckle). And the aforementioned headboard (and tailgate) removal is easier.

Full agreement , I’m on my second one . Brilliant trailer . Not without its faults but if you accidentally overload it it’ll haul and tip 3 tonne no sweat .

To buck the trend the firm I work for have the smaller 3500kg tipper. You can overload the hell out of it so no need to go bigger. It's primarily used for aggregate but occasionally has a machine on it. But no internal tie downs so it is awkward to strap but can be done. Ally floor is better than the ply one, but not sure if they still do ply for a tipper

Good to hear you like it so much, I'm planning on one of these being my next trailer. I had a 10x5 tipper with the high mesh sides a few years ago and that was fantastic, should never have sold it! Thinking of the 12x 6 this time as I have a flatbed 10x5, and I could get a tractor with flail topper on the 12 x 6 comfortably. Only downside I can see is I can't see me getting a discovery on it, but if you've had a 110 on there...

Sadly prices do seem to have rocketed, list price for one with mesh sides (cheaper than the solid), a pair of steel ramps (cheaper than the alu and with no ramp holders) and a pair of lamp guards is £9133 inc VAT now. It's quite easy to spec one up to £10k and beyond. I'm no longer VAT reg either.
I'm currently in talks with a private seller who says they have a nearly new one for a few £k less than list so will see how that goes.

Yes i'll get the serial No. and contact IW to check it. Apparently they register all their trailers with TER (The National Plant and Equipment Register) and they have a number actually laser cut through the chassis.

Really straight bloke, he’s a Bateson and Meredith and Eyre dealer and also sells Temared trailers which look very good and I’d imagine are far more sensibly priced.

He also deals in quite a lot of second hand stuff of all makes so might know of something that would do your job.
