do it as well as you can,but learn to do it better
Not suitable for my wood, but impressive to watch

seen that one before ... the op is exceptionally good with it .... getting the timber in the top rack is quite an art, that he has off to a tee ... there's a much longer vid of him 'performing':cool:

Alternatively, save your back by selling your wood to some mug on fb as is and use the money to buy ready split and dry Lithuanian stuff, probably end up with more that way as well

Not so good if you wanna split into half a dozen bits tho
works fine just keep splitting at it until its small enough with a bit of practice I can upend a 2ft dia log and split into log sizes

Like the concept, I’m guessing the retract is quite slow if done off digger aux hydraulics and it would be manually retracted I presume off pedal.

Got any pictures. I've just bought the one i put up for Graham and I'm thinking this is the way to go. Anything to avoid manual work😁

Unless you're dealing with stuff you can't lift i think digger mounted like that are a time waster. If you wanna split a 9" log into four set it on splitter crack it turn it 90 by hand split again next bit. Rolling it about on floor with digger to get it in right spot is just burning diesel imho.

if I were you Dyl I'd make an adaptor to fit the 3 point link mount points/holes, with a pick up set on it ... could then just drop that off if you want to put it behind yer traccy

Yeah thats exactly what i was thinking. It would be handy just for moving it about, putting it on the pickup.

I recently bought a 22T ES Log Splitter from Rock Machinery. £1500 inc vat. It is meant for the horizontal use only due to some EU law that was meant to be coming into place apparently but got scrapped. However its just a case of not wiring up the micro switch. It works in both positions. Its been great! Its a very powerful splitter. Pic below is when it arrived. I looked at making my own originally, but I just couldn't make it for the money this was plus the time I would waste doing it.

Benefit of this is, its got it's own engine and doesn't rely on anything else to power it.

Highly recommended! Plus their customer service is great!

wessex here.does what it should but oil in back of tractor can get hot after couple hours.i put the large steel plate on bottom so can pileup with wood to save endless bending which ain’t good with continual back ache.i normally cut logs in 12inch lengths first.not had much stop it apart from really knotty wood but I can normally split these with perseverance.
