Kubota K008S mini digger - track tension piston jammed

Hi All,

I was using my mini digger today (Kubota K008S) and the track came off. I got it back on, grabbed the grease gun and started to re-tension. However the grease pressure built but the idler wheel did not tension. I have check the grease nipples and all seems to be working fine. I have taken the idler wheel off and I believe the piston / ram is completely jammed. I have looked online for a new piston ram and block, but cannot seem to find anything. Does any one have any ideas how I can get the piston pin out?

I really hope someone can help as I am at a bit of a dead end. Suggestions welcome.

Put the greaser back in and use your grease gun, if there are no leaks the grease should move the rod.

and if that doesn't work ..... put a hyd fitting in to suit a body dozer type kit and pump it out with that ... just be sure that yon rod can not take off with 10,000PSI behind it ...

Yes this Komatsu track adjusters had a habit of jamming up when the tracks where released, I had a few different fittings and connected them to the porta power..... or even better the high pressure power pack

The little k008 adjusters tended to bend slightly, so once right in they are jammed in

It is right in and it is jammed. Had it in the freezer this morning to try shrink the metal, then the vice and hammer, but not budging. I am now trying the oven to melt the seals as this was suggested by a local hire company. I will try the hydraulic kit, but failing that, do you know anywhere I can by a new adjuster AND body? I have found the adjuster rod, but cannot find the square body it fit in anywhere.

you need to try to hydraulic it out BEFORE you cook the seals

Is this a get you out of trouble job? If there is no other option, then measure half way down the block, cut with a 1mm disc right through, refit the greaser and try pumping out what’s left of the rod, then with the remainder slice it long ways both sides leaving about 40 mm of the block at the seal end, trying not to cut the rod only the block, cut round the block again not through the rod, clean it all up, get a new seal kit, and a good mig welder, put it all back together, don’t have turn the rod round and refit it.

or ..... as the rod is bollo-ed and available ..... weld a decent sized plate on the end of the rod, clamp it to a decent bench or summat equally solid, upright. couple of good bars and packers to suit and try and bar the block off the rod, or better still, use a couple of shallow wedge blocks to drive the cylinder block off the rod ... wedge power is awesome

I have several year versions of Acad Smiffy, but so long since I opened any of 'em it'd take me a week to recall how to use it .... and the new 'puter is an expensive paperweight currently, 'til it gets its OS reloaded
