can't see all of it but guessing 2.5t
#4 or #5 taper ... guessing 5 looking at the speed range ...... it will outlast you and yer kids Boyo ........ fairy bottle with some suds in, to play on it .. MUCH kinder to the drill tips ..... or pressurised spray bottle with the nozzle off, just to get a flow on there

I’ll only be playing with it - will defo take your advice and sort suds.

cheapo pond pump'll run yer suds from the sump MB ... assume you have wired the place 3ph/N/earth in yer lovely new sanctuary ?
you don't want too high a flow 99% of the time ... makes a 'kin mess
can you put up a pic of the whole machine please ... I'll have a fair idea when i see what it is K&W were superb tools ... I'd be made up getting one for 200/t too ........ Pam on the other hand might have different opinions on the subject

seen worse w/shops ... floor's clean
went in a shop once where there must've been decades of scrap on the floor ...... **** knows how they managed to work in there, without breaking an ankle ... obviously had the factory inspector in his pocket ... employed about 20 ... words just can not describe it .... stuff literally lay where it fell .. and stayed there .... never forgotten it

Ha ha I’ve got some invoices to do today (wet day) and my hole punch is broken would you be a love and drill the holes in them for me

2.25" on #4MT or 3.5" on #5 .... bigger is on a #6MT, unless they've been turned back to #5 ....... which has been known to occur ... just need a big enough chuck to get 'em into

deffo will not be #6 .... not a big enough machine ...
most likely #4, looking at the pix of the spindle, but could be #5 as it's just about big enough, from what I can see of it .....
if it is only #4 it's not difficult to run #5,s down to an MT4 to drop in it ....
you look to have a lathe capable of doing it

Next question - I’ve chucked some wires into the lathe and can get it to make noises if I push in the buttons inside the electrical panel, but the controls on the front don’t do anything. I’m no electrician and I’m certainly not getting heavily involved in this as I will definitely die…
What it the little silver jobby circled below? It seems to spark at random (which is rather disconcerting!)

Looks like a capacitor? The switches on the front will be 24 volt operating relays I would think hence the transformer just below the electric connection you’ve done

appears to be a lack of connection here - looks to be main motor fuses .... continental ceramic fuse wire holders ... what breed is it MB
that cap. looks way too small for main motor and rarely have cap. start on 3ph ... maybe a 1ph suds?
