Kitchen and Wade Drill query

Does anyone know how the travel brake is supposed to be released on this drill, to get the head to move along the arm? The wheel won’t turn and I don’t want to force anything…

Is it to do with the cammed wheel I’ve circled?

Yeah, that one is free and allows the arm to rotate. It also turns the bar that the cam in my pic is mounted on, which acts on the little lever I’ve circled. I can’t get the head to move though…

all correct ... any locking pinch bolt round the back/underneath?? .... the lock may need adjusting as both movements are adjustable from memory and need setting to match each other when applied/released to act on both motions equally and simultaneously ..... some one may have over dogged the rolling travel lock

I haven’t ever put a plug on it yet - don’t know if it even turns!!!

I started slackening this off but it gives the impression of wanting to unscrew right out and (I’m guessing) will then drop oil everywhere, I can’t decide if it is just a drain or something more relevant to the current conundrum?

My old man had one the same size as that but had the motor sat on the floor behind it with a pto shaft running up the centre of the column to gear box that could lift the radial arm and send another pto shaft down the outside to radial arm where another gear box took the power along the arm to the head.
The motor ran continuously and clutch packs controlled everything.
Every function could be powered and it was incredibly complex.

I got the pros in and they’ve done a brilliant job tbh - I’m made up with it!
Wasn’t cheap though…..

That looks ace mate, well impressed it’s my next job wiring my shed up, but as I’m a pauper will have to do it myself but now I’ve seen how the pros do it I will just copy your dwelling

double lock nut-ed ..... does it have a screw slot in the bolt ? ... don't think you're far off there TBH

certainly reduced the world's stock of cable ties somewhat .....
I'd 've rather seen a few more clamps than ties here though .. .... they have a finite lifespan

It turns out if you’re a pro you have to screw cable fixings into the never-to-be-seen purlin ‘trays’ every 12-18 inches ‘just in case’, and then cable tie everything together every 4-6 inches! Their attention to detail was incredible and I expect the same from you!
It is amazing/ridiculous really how far they went securing cables. The job is absolutely mint though, I am really happy with it!

I gave up with sparkies ... too bloody untidy and used to do all my own too

No screw slot. I’m going to back it right out now and see what happens….
