I’m actually working for the landscapers. Who I’ve left trying to rake solid clay after trimming the membrane down with spades.

There is a bloke about 4 miles from us and his van has got 'youve tried the cowboys, now try the indians' on it. Makes me chuckle everytime i see him.

Had similar on Friday, although looks like you had a lot more soil, I had a tiny amount of sharp sand under the turf and barely 75mm if soil in places
Tried to tell the guy it's been hammering it down the day before, with more rain due on the day and it would be best to leave it couple of days.
He didn't want to listen all sticky clay and was a pain to try and level out. Managed to lower an area for decking, make a raised area, dig a trench for a small sleeper retaining wall and roughly level out the rest of the garden and to top it off half hour ish before I started to load the machine back it it twats it down again

Most hateful day I had ever was a twat who we had priced the job for previously..... He then decided to use someone else supposedly as he needed a couple "Other things" doing...... then a builder I do work for asked us to go there.

Transpired the man who was going there (who I know), did'nt own a machine, Ramps, or have anyway of getting a hired machine up on the retaining wall....

Spent the day doing a nice job only to be asked right at the end to skim the topsoil off the top corner to fill the bottom........ so I did it never to return!
