Is the backhoe loader a thing of the past?

I'd suggest from all the pics I see of duck ops taking their steering wheels off that the thing does indeed get in the way. And especially when you've not had to deal with it before - which is something many backhoe ops wont have faced. But we don't know what it looks like in the cab yet. Its an interesting idea for sure, and well used in tractors and forestry machinery so no reason it wouldn't work on a BHL
Taking steering wheel off!? Trying to work out how that would even work unless you don't intend on moving much that day- a sitting duck perhaps.
I can't say I find mine a problem at all don't even think about it but there isn't much bulk there to be fair.

I did wonder the same - whether it's degree of rotation is variable ? @APhillips ???
It is set about 30 degrees in the image if you look at mirrors for reference.

On mine the steering wheel is not much bigger than a tea saucer :ROFLMAO:

the steering wheels get removed 'cos they have steering on the sticks .. so you don't have to let go of the sticks when moving about ....... still trying to work out how I can do it with the 'Drema :unsure:

Ollie Kitchin did this to his wheel, before he had stick steering sort of halfway house - but still had to let go of a stick to steer

I'm surprised that couldn't be easily achieved with a backhoe, have the cab and arm move together say up to 220degs then swivel seat once rear aligned for driving/front bucket work. Would have thought it feels more intuitive to be have the whole thing rotate under your seat rather than on a kingpost out the back

I never use my 'wheel' ... just steer with the knob so could easily dispense with the the rest of it TBH ..... but i don't 'road' it other than up/down our drive
Yeah that's how I find it. One hand on the steering knob and the other hanging on for dear life when on the road.
