OMG !!!!! ..... Clio, no brakes, dolly way too 'kin tall, tied on with a couple of crappy old knots ...... WTF could go wrong .. aside from the disasters so far ...... as said they walk among us ........ wonder how far it got?

the a frames are better and I hate them with a passion!

you can buy 'em ... but running much smaller, very HD wheels and tyres, with a 30-40mph limit on 'em ... tyres get too hot at speed and blow out

they're a bloody nightmare thing .... the old Fairey / Harvey Frost suspended tow dolly was equally nightmare-ish ... wheels too small for anything more than 30mph and downright bloody dangerous ..... most of them ended their days with the wheels/axle removed and bolted in the back of LWB ser. II landies .. with two blocks of wood fitted between the rear axle and chassis on't landy
only pic i can find
the self steering dollies with wheels outside the width of the vehicle are a lot safer. lower and braked ...... at a price

I know a car dealer who has one of those dollies. It is dismantable, so goes to the the auction and if he buys something he takes it out of the boot, puts it together and then tows it home. His has the wheels on the outside so it is more stable, but even then, looks a death trap, particularly as no brakes. When I said to him about getting a proper car trailer his response was it was too difficult to park at the auction.

I think if the total weight is under 750kg they are okay, but I would have thought a lot of the car/trolly combinations are well over that.

They pretty much all are, I'm sure it's anything over 750kg must have brakes operated by tow vehicle with exemption for small recovery vehicles for shirt distances
