Now now lads ...my daughter is a vegetarian....never preaches just gets on with it šŸ˜‰
Me and the mrs don't eat a lot of meat either nowadays because the meat we eat is relatively expensive as its reared and processed locally, not trying to be righteous....I dont have issue with meat at all, in fact love it, it's just the over consumption of cheap meat which directly relates to poor animal welfare that doesn't do it for me.
I've absolutely no problem with vegetarian, vegan or anything else. Do what you want to do and good luck to you. I only object when they tell me what to do.
I agree with the animal welfare point. I don't want to eat animals bought up in disgusting conditions. I don't count animals as the same as humans, but don't want to be involved in any unnecessary suffering.

Farm.shop 3 minutes up the lane. Buys his cattle at the auction off the local folks. And it's damn good stuff.šŸ‘ Milks from "our," farm etc etc.
I'm absolutely certain it's possible to subsist totally from within a 30 minute radius....even cities if things were savvy ...now that's what you call sustainable...if they really wanted sustainability it's simple ..just not quite as cheap or flashy...
Judging by the amount of farm shops last few years I do see a slightly encouraging shift round here anyway...

Farm shops round here are full of poncy tish, overpriced.

I buy under the counter home kills from a local farmer as well as eggs three trays at a time. He’s a great guy, genuine poor farmer as he has a small yard but no land. Makes cracking sausages too.

Much cheaper if you leave all the vultures out of it. Slaughterhouse fees are sky high, and so far away that unless you have a whole lorry load it’s totally unviable. Much better welfare this way too- he’s always got a litter or two of piglets running around free range. You can choose the one you like the look of for six months tine 🤣 and it dies in the barn it was born in. Literally zero food miles.

We don’t waste much either. My missus likes to feel posh, so she goes to the Goodwood farm shop. She usually buys a couple of cheeses (which are excellent) and a giant box of bones for a fiver- this is half of it. Makes around ten 500ml boxes of the best jelly and fat stock and enough meat for a stir fry for four.

During lunch at work, I ate 3 plates of beans (which I know I shouldn't). When I got home, my husband seemed excited to see me and exclaimed delightedly, "Darling I have a surprise for dinner tonight." He then blindfolded me and led me to my chair at the dinner table. I took a seat and just as he was about to remove my blindfold, the telephone rang. He made me promise not to touch the blindfold until he returned and went to answer the call.
The beans I had consumed were still affecting me and the pressure was becoming unbearable, so while my husband was out of the room I seized the opportunity, shifted my weight to one leg and let one go.
It was not only loud, but it smelled like a fertilizer truck running over a skunk in front of a garbage dump! I took my napkin from my lap and fanned the air around me vigorously. Then, shifting to the other leg, I ripped off three more. The stink was worse than cooked cabbage. Keeping my ears carefully tuned to the conversation in the other room, I went on releasing atomic bombs like this for another few minutes. The pleasure was indescribable!
Eventually the telephone farewells signaled the end of my freedom, so I quickly fanned the air a few more times with my napkin, placed it on my lap and folded my hands back on it feeling very relieved and pleased with myself.
My face must have been the picture of innocence when my husband returned, apologizing for taking so long.
He asked me if I had peeked through the blindfold, and I assured him I had not.
At this point, he removed the blindfold, and twelve dinner guests seated around the table, with their hands to their noses, chorused, "Happy Birthday

An Airbus 380 is on its way across the Atlantic. It flies consistently at 800 km/h at 30,000 feet, when suddenly an Eurofighter with a Tempo Mach 2 appears.
The pilot of the fighter jet slows down, flies alongside the Airbus and greets the pilot of the passenger plane by radio: "Airbus, boring flight isn’t it? Now have a look here!"
He rolls his jet on its back, accelerates, breaks through the sound barrier, rises rapidly to a dizzying height, and then swoops down almost to sea level in a breathtaking dive. He loops back next to the Airbus and asks: "Well, how was that?"
The Airbus pilot answers: "Very impressive, but watch this!"
The jet pilot watches the Airbus, but nothing happens. It continues to fly straight, at the same speed. After 15 minutes, the Airbus pilot radios, "Well, how was that?
Confused, the jet pilot asks, "What did you do?"
The Airbus pilot laughs and says: "I got up, stretched my legs, walked to the back of the aircraft to use the washroom, then got a cup of coffee and a chocolate fudge pastry."
The moral of the story is: When you’re young, speed and adrenaline seems to be great. But as you get older and wiser, you learn that comfort and peace are more important.
This is called S.O.S.: Slower, Older and Smarter.
Dedicated to all my senior friends ~ it’s time to slow down and enjoy the rest of the trip.

An Old Farmer writes to his Son who is in Prison:
"Dear Son, this year I won't be able to plant Potatoes because I can't dig the field by myself, I know if you are here, you would have helped me".
The Son writes back,
"Dad don't even think of digging the field because that's where I buried all the money I stole."
The Police read the letter and the next Day the whole field was dugged up looking for the money but nothing was found.
The following Day the Son wrote again,
'Now plant your Potatoes dad, it's the best I can do from here
