Makita now do one that compete with the Milwaukee powerwise but the Milwaukee feels more substantial and better built

'Fraid my only contribution to this thread is .....
having been workshop based most of me life and always having power outlets to hand, even on site, with a welding genny almost always to hand, I read some of these eyewatering prices for cordless gear and thank my stars we never needed to use it .
I've a couple of cordless Makita drills I've had years, which've always performed well ... batteries are now getting 'tired' and could do with replacing
I also bought one of Screwfix's lil' brushless Erbauer 1/2" drills recently ... I'm impressed with it and makes my old Maks look like relics of the industrial revolution, so depending on battery prices, they may never get replaced. Would rather go buy another Erbauer from Screwfix, for what I use them for
I'm still lucky that I have power relatively easily to hand, 90% of the time, so'll be sticking with my existing gear ..... plus it's probably possible to buy 2 or 3 corded units for the price of a cordless![]()
I rarely by a corded powertool now, unless it’s something very specific. With the Brushless technology and big Li-ion batteries, the power is there in these tools now. My biggest battery drill, I can’t recall the model, is a beast! It’s got as much guts as a coreded drill, with none of tge corded drawbacks. Circular saws are the same, ok they are not quite there with blade size to give depth of cut, but they are close, and it will come. The twin battery Makita saw is incredible.
SDS drills are another one, we have single and twin battery versions, even the single battery drills hit harder than our corded Bosch SDS drills. And will do light chiselling. The convenience is brilliant.
The twin battery cicrular saw is 185mm, it's what I use. Happily runs steel cutting blades or diamond blades for the odd slab.
I've got the DeWalt one it's something like 950nm tighten and 1650nm undo. Great bit of kitI’m thinking on treating myself to a new battery impact gun, this thread cam up in the search. It looks as if the Milwaukee 1/2” M18 fuel is tops with all the top ten comparisons sites, or ingersol rand make an appearance to. Anyone have any good experience with either?
We use metabo at work and seem good and lasting.
If it's a 36mm it's mineSnap on are about five years behind the major proper power tool manufacturers IMHO. All i own by them is a spanner, and that's only because I found it![]()
It is a metabo but I think the batteries are snap-on's own so i doubt they fit other metabo gear.Pretty sure that snapon grinders are metabo if the batteries are the same metabos range of cordless metal working kit is the best, alsorts of very specialist tools they just completely lacking in the rest of the department's
