I only skim read it but I think that's fair enough tbh.
If they where a sure thing to win it would be different but seeing as currently it looks like it's anyone's race then putting stuff like that in the manifesto would be a pretty fair judge of things.
It would just turn into a second referendum at considerably less cost.
Badenoch crucified him this afternoon unsure what his reply was smarmy ****

He's as bent as a 9 bob note, I was going to say I don't understand why the other political parties haven't jumped on it... then I realised they are all just as bent and are all ducking and covering as much as possible.

If Burnham goes for an election and given the implosion of the greens , the itv sting on reform and the tories not re rallied yet he might go for it , and If he gets back in he will be insufferable as an elected PM and we will be dragged back into Europe without a referendum and at a cost that will bring a tear to a glass eye . He will increase the national debt drastically to keep promises he can’t afford and pay Europe the new entry fee .
How do we stop him ? I don’t want to waste my vote so what do we do ?

That's it basically...Rupert talks sense but in a pipe dream sadly.

We re in a Absolute utter total sh*tshow
Horrible chance that things are going to get a damn site worse.... unless....unless football could be his downfall.
Nigel has a lot of candy to run a decent campaign but the muppets that got caught on camera have done a lot of damage . He needs to get them fired and make a big deal of it to do a bit of damage limitation . He might still be able to take a shot at Burnham .

"Well after today’s announcement from the Bank of England, there is something very, very, very wrong in the system...
😡

So … let me get this straight:
* British Gas made a profit of £1.3bn between January & June
* BP announced profits of £6.95 billion between April and June alone
* Shell has profited by £9.4bn in a year
The MEN at the top:
* John Pettigrew, boss of National Grid received £6.5m bonus on top of his salary
* Chris O’Shea, chief executive of British Gas owner Centrica was paid almost £2m last year in salary and benefits
* Centrica's non-executive directors were paid almost £1m
* Scottish Power's CEO Keith Anderson is on £1.15m.
* E.On boss Michael Lewis is on £1m
* EDF's Simone Rossi is also on £1m
* And their top execs enjoyed a share of £4.65m
* Peter Simpson of Anglian Water earned a £1.3m pay package
* Welsh Water bosses awarded themselves bonuses of over £930,000
* Severn Trent bosses awarded themselves bonuses of £5.56m
* Thames Water's Sarah Bentley, received a £727,000 bonus on top of her £2m annual salary
Meanwhile there are...
* People who haven't had breakfast and/or lunch TODAY, because they can't afford it.
* People using FoodBanks because food is becoming more of a luxury than a necessity.
* Children celebrating a birthday without presents.
* Parents worrying about new school uniforms - and some schools enforcing rules which are not cost-effective.
* People who can't get to work because they can't afford to put petrol in their cars/pay for public transport anymore.
* People who are working so much they're making themselves ill, and they STILL CAN'T AFFORD to pay their bills.
* People who have been given fines by these same energy/water companies because they couldn't afford to pay their bills in the first place - increasing their debt.
* Customers being told to do STAR JUMPS TO KEEP WARM for crying out loud!
* Hose pipe bans when gallons of water leak away everyday.
* Elderly people NOT DRINKING because they're worried about running out of water!!!
All this and energy prices are set to rise up to 75% in October...
THIS IS MADNESS!.. I'm all for supporting profits … I'm not for supporting greed at the cost of lives of others.
Something needs to change.
Why is customers' money being used to make life more comfortable for those who are making life more intolerable for the rest of us?

I actually don't understand how the energy companies are allowed to get away with this and why the government aren't stopping them instead of handing out money..... "

Under no government should the basic requirements of uk citizens be allowed to be owned by profit making companies . For one reason . There is no competition . We can’t go to another provider . They should not be allowed to behave like limited companies that are subject to work in a field where the price of their competition keeps them honest and fair .
A limited company will look at all its costs associated with its product and then add a margin of profit . If it is working on a bigger margin than its competitor it will need to be delivering a better product .
These massive utilities are ring fencing the profit first then charging accordingly to ensure it is covered .
I’m not talking socialism just common sense for the uk . We should have a list of resources that stay in public ownership no matter who’s in power .

We aren’t still in the era of British leyland and unions anymore . We need to make this stuff work for the good of the UK . Decent structured management , pay well , promote from within , flag up the failings . It’s not that complicated on an individual basis . It’s not like running the NHS getting water to flow through pipes and s**t to run down hill . The knowledge required to run most of these establishments could be found on this forum by guys who have an understanding how to run a business within its budget constraints and then organise the people to do it .

If they are being run well without vast amounts of profit being taken then leave them alone . If vast profits are being taken , then take the element of profits , reinvest it in the infrastructure and improve it .

That's the big thing Vin, the water companies are making HUGE profits, but it's not getting invested where it should be, WHEN it should have been, now the problem is huge, they can rightly say they can't afford to fix all the problems, because they've been neglecting them for so long it's
all a problem, not enough infrastructure, that that there is is decapitated and crumbling, they haven't invested properly in water management since day 1 of privatisation.

There should be no profit in a water authority .
We are going to pay to sort it in the long run anyway so find a way to take them back into public ownership , and sort them out . It’s going to need to be done at some point so the sooner we remove the element of profit the sooner we can start trying to reinvest back into the infrastructure . It’s better to pay what it costs to sort out even if it is costly without adding a shareholders profit onto it . We are going to pay for it one way or other

It’s not just that- they load them up with debt also.
most would be bankrupt if they weren't 'who they are' and creditors consider them safe bets, because of what they are
